Seriously considering a Volvo 740 now, apparently if you can find a diesel they like veg...

It does have its' pitfalls though, for starters it's quite an old-skool turbo motor, so it's got a bit of lag. Easily tuned to 300+ hp (most of them are, too!) but horrific on fuel!

And the interior is Puke

Still, would have one over the latest RS any day, despite all of that!

I recently hired a 2l Diesel Kia C'eed (non 'Pro') and was impressed by the interior build quailty. Ergonomics has some way to go yet, but it was a nice place to be albeit a bit boring. The exterior though! Awful, I couldn't live with it. The performance (or lack of) from the supposed 126hp diesel was shocking as well. I reckon a stage 1 HDi would have been much more gutsy.

Oh god, Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 2.... FAPFAPFAPFAP

Both my uncles owned them, and one still does. God they're epic cars! Went to visit the uncle in Spain who still has his; he picked me up from the airport and spanked it all the way back to his place in the mountains, it was so awesome!

lol they don't do a 2l diesel. The biggest is a 1.6 which is what you would of had and believe me, they are quicker than a HDi by quite a long way. If it was a new one and had done less than 2000 miles, it would of been slow. Apparently they have a bed in map as one of my colleagues took his in for repair because it was so slow lol.

Could well have been, all I know is that we were pretty astonished it was the '126' hp because it felt sluggish as fook! 2krpm on the motorway, foot down, barely a shove. My Hdi definitely feels a lot more urgent, I reckon I could have given it a run for its' money and I'm the first to admint my car is sloooow.

As it was a rental, it was very new and on delivery miles. It was black too, so maybe not the quickest colour (red).

On the other hand, we recently hired a Citroen DS4 (massaging seats as standard!) and it had a similar 1.6 diesel engine but felt much more rapid. It was a nicer place to sit than the Kia too, I would be quite happy with one given the money!

Kind of agree. At times I really hate it. Cba with the thing! But I love driving it! Its never ever let me down! Needs minimal money spent on it.

My Ph1 XUD was more reliable than this HDi I have now. Only had it since August and I've already replaced the crank pulley with a solid one after it shat, and replaced all the brake discs and pads. lol

I wouldn't say disc and brakes make it un reliable. Ive had mine since January all ive changed it crank pulley. But even that I did about 1.5k on the old one while it was rattling. :-)

Fapping adore the BMW 1M - proper ponce car as well...

Controversial I know - but I rekon it's one of BMWs better lookers. Best since the E46 M3.

1m is the nicest modern BMW. Just a shame most have gone missing because BMW can't even get simple security right!

Best looking bmw?? Ha! Finally, something definitive I can pull out as an example of when you were wrong. :p

Guilty pleasure has got to be the big new mercs, e and s classes, mmmm...

Unrelated note, has anyone seen the new b class? There's fugly and then there's that. Confused

Lol, IMHO it's their best looking car since the E46 M3...

The E92 is blingy and a bit fugly, the E60 is lardy, E63 looks like it's got downs... The new F30 is just an Audi wannabe with it's silly headlights... The 1M has to be it for me...

New A class is a good looker tbf...

Wtf, you saying that changing discs and pads makes a car unreliable? Just lol

Think people have missed the point of this thread entirely, just pointing out stuff that would actually be nice to have.

To be fair they have fixed that issue now and it doesn't affect post-2009 cars anyway...

The 1M is amazing but it's hardly a guilty pleasure, that thing was one of the most highly-rated cars of the year by EVO magazine recently! It's an awesome little machine, even if it is a bit of a mish-mash of parts (Doesn't it have an old M3 rear axle?)

They may have fixed it now but that doesn't help when loads of them went missing and weren't found again and seeing as the 1m was a limited run, i bet a lot of people didn't get new cars from them. Just a payout!

1Ms are driven exclusively by arseholes and the 1 series is a proper hairdressers car...

Therefore IMO the 1M is a bit of a guilty pleasure, I shouldn't like it...
