Right, guess I should get posting with my own little Project thread.

So, purchased this little beasty on 11-11-13.



She's got 205k on the clock. Half leather in OK condition, bodywork is ok condition with no obvious rust.

It's pouring boost like you wouldn't believe.
Is there a common weak point/s on the HDi?

Once thats fixed I'll look at mapping it, I'm looking for an mpg & power upgrade.

Brakes are the obvious first port of call is brakes. Are the stock calipers ok if I uprate the disks and pads.

What do you guys use/recommend?

I'm thinking that I'll lower it by 30mm as I want to keep it practical and functional but add my own touch to it.

Id like to add a boost gauge (not owned a turbo before so its just me being a child)

Looks pretty clean. Definately get a stage 1 map on before anything else.

To be honest, you can grab GTi callipers (only the fronts can be upgraded anyway..) for an extra £30-50, and the difference over 266's is well worth it.. if you are going to be changing discs and pads, you might as well be changing the callipers over for the upgrade.

Look for breaking threads on here, and general gti calliper sales - they come up all the time
There's a guide in the guide section on intercoolers, a few in there that work well for the 306 in terms of size and port placement, but failing that and wanting something new and shiny, the generic ebay intercoolers will do for our application..

If I were you, I'd simply lay off the idea of going for an intercooler for the time being. This forum is a wealth of knowledge and information so I'd suggest hang fire until you've had a good look around at the guides and project section. Enjoy the bus, they're epic motors!

I'm not saying don't do it, quite the opposite tbh. But it's worth looking around first, gain a bit of knowledge then you'll understand what you need and can do the whole lot a bit cheaper.

under the mph thats your mileage with trip meter and spanner means it needs a service If you mean under the rev gauge i believe its the oil level gauge but dont hold me to that.

When I went to buy my HDi estate the service light was on too. Seller had serviced it recently but didn't know how to turn it off. My dad was with me and he just did it right in front of us. Said he remembered it from his old Xsara Picasso HDi.
