You must wait around for ages in the garden waiting for these guys.
I fluked on a butterfly on exmoor, he basically landed at my feet whilst I was on the highest peak, but only had 150-500 lens which is not great close up.
Taken off Facebook.

Nah not really, my nan has a nice garden with lots of stuff that attracts them
150-500 would be okay with a tripod... I shoot my 55-300 for this mostly, albeit with extension tubes. But I got some decent ones with it before without, tricky handheld obviously.

So, finished the macro rig today. Needs a few adjustments, and obviously I only have one diffuser:
Had a 5 minute play, really need a tripod for this now though

Yes, actually... The extension tubes causing a ridiculously small DOF requiring a high f-stop and therefore a distinct lack of light .
(I know what you meant, douche )
Cheers mate.

Few more from today for anyone that's interested... These were with my 50mm prime and 32mm of extension tube:

I need to come up with a better way of diffusing the light.

Cheers haha, luckily I can cut it down a bit and make it more compact with the prime lens, bit more arm friendly at least!

May as well shove these in here, as it's photography related...
As per usual, none are Photoshopped.

So could you explain what exactly is going on here with the lense? And where did you get the ball joint mounts for the flashes?
Cheers

The lens is just a 55-300 with macro extension tubes attached... More recently I was using my 35mm f1.8G as it made it a lot easier to handle and gave sharper results. The downside being I had to be much closer and you can only focus by moving the whole camera. With a zoom lens, you can use the zoom to focus as well which helps.
The ball mounts were a nightmare to find, I ended up buying 2 mini tripods to steal them from. You can find them easily on Amazon, it's just cheap ones are shite. I only used them once, since then I ran without them as there were too many places to move/come out of adjustment.
So it's basically just a Manfrotto 330B now, the speedlights I use offer enough adjustment for me.
Here's the tripod: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cullmann-Magnesi...ann+tripod (gone up £3 since I got them).
Very handy little tripod actually, I kept one and gave the other to my Mum.
Here's the mount:
