Haha I dread to think.

Not too sure yet. Tbh it drives so much more comfortably without it. For the 4 minutes it takes to change it I'm tempted to just put it on for track days.

I can kind of hear myself think when I drive it now lol

I have enough problems with doing that as it is, without being pointed in the direction of more things.

Looks good buddy Smile one thing though, I'd get some dust boots for the Rose joints on the droplinks. You'll get all kinds of swarf in them and end up with knocking droppings if you're not careful!

So after what started as a silly conversation, I am now in a few minds as to how I progress with this:

-Drop a 1.8/2.0'6 hybrid engine in and boost it
-Space frame the rear of the car, drop a rover v8 in. I was budgeting for a roll cage anyway, so no major additional costs on the space frame. Rover v8's are cheap enough to pick up on fleabay. They aren't the most powerful of V8's in the world, but sound epic and are cheap to buy. Thinking logically about it, if the space frame and engine were in, theres not a HUGE cost left, besides machining down driveshafts/geabox adaptor plates.

As I said, started as a silly conversation, but I reckon it's doable for the same price as boosting a '6 engine, and would sound fapping epic

Would be epic but there's space to fit one in the front and IMO front engine RWD would retain the 306s handing alot better.

So you're saying get it up front, keep the original drivetrain and run it down the exhaust tunnel. Have suspension mounts welded into the rear, run coils on the rear and thus inevitably meaning I would need side exit exhausts because there is a drivetrain in the way?

Its a lot less work that way TBF

Been looking into servicing and maintenance costs on these;

An OE quality HG set is £54
Alternator £70
Dizzy and leads £35

List goes on but the seem pretty cheap to maintain. Just the petrol costs to consider! haha

Probably.. either a 1UZ-FE or a M60B30, both pretty cheap and make substantially more power

Fair suggestions there mate, thanks.

One main attraction to the rover V8 was the fact it was mechanically timed, hence making life a lot easier. Just got the setup/balance the carbs and pretty much thats it ready to go.

Please do this... Who cares how much power it makes when it sounds like that!

Used to have a V8 Disco workhorse for carrying shit around/pulling trailers here, it was shit, slow and rotten... but sounded awesome Big Grin
