One of my rear nipples is 7mm.
I need nice new ones anyway, stop em all getting rounded off with age!

If i was you, when you take the rear nipples out, copper slip the threads.

NO NO NO AND NO again you crazy fooker. That will make things ten times worse. There is galvanic corrosion if you have both ally and copper in contact. Never ever use copper slip on any alloy components. Rear calipers are made of aluminium.

Any time i get a brake nipple out it gets replaced with a new one, and if you really dont want to use copper slip use aluminium stuff

Funnily enough i got that from a peugeot data sheet that was released to workshops after they all started seizing and snapping. Who says they are ally? Could be steel nipples (giggidy)

The calipers are ally!!
Mine get replaced with stainless steel items and never have an issue!! Best way to slacken any bleed nipple off is a deep socket! Always use that method and have never had one snap on me If your car has the compensator on the beam one of the fittings is larger

Copper slip on the fronts is fine it's just the rears you shouldn't.

Nipple spanners.

Had one snap on me earlier, despite using ludicrous amounts of plusgas, heat and swearing. I will definitely be copper-slipping the new one back in, can't make it any worse lol.

What about using an anti seize jointing compound?

The one on my 1.8 i think i could of snapped with my hand though. No pressure what so ever and it went so it must of been dodgy. Getting the steel lines out of the calliper without twisting the line is a different question though. Took me ages to work them free!

Tbf someone had mullered the clockwise shoulders on mine, so was blatantly over-tightened last time it got used.

I've had quite a few snap off. I find a little tap with a hammer helps though but the nipples do seem to be made of cheese
