Sounds like a winner then really

Yeah I'm happy with that, I don't usually like buying from dealers but these guys are top notch actually.
I'm gonna get a clay bar and some T-Cut on it on friday, it's filthy from the Dales roads yesterday and has a few minor scratches here and there, i wanna tidy it up a bit

Going to keep this one for more than 5 mins ?
Looks like a clean example mate and hopefully it'll be reliable once they've sorted the niggles

Oh yeah mate, this one is staying for at least a year, probably 2 or 3. Wouldn't have spent so much on it if I wasn't gonna keep it
Thinking about just getting it mapped when I take it back to the dealer on Friday. It's bloody quick as it is but the map would be half price, so it's 150 quid for about 30 bhp which is value in my book

They do a derv version of the mk2 VRS, not sure why they didn't do it with the mk1. Would have been good with the PD150 engine from the Leon Cupra TDI, although I still think I'd have gone petrol, 28-30 round town and 40-45 on a run is fine by me!

It's a place near Huddersfield called Dubbers, they've got a great reputation as a VAG specialist. My mate has had a mk2 Golf GTI, mk3 Golf VR6, Audi A4 TDI and a Corrado G60 off them, all great cars in great nick

You must have a very well behaved right foot if you actually get those MPG figures
Think you should be glad they did the 'stat too, it may be cheap but they're fiddly to do.

On a 5 mile run to work through traffic this morning I got 27 even with a dodgy 'stat, and when I was on the A1 it was saying 43. After a full day on Sunday with a load of m-way and then a fair bit of back road I averaged 36, and that was giving it it's first ragging...
What you getting from yours dude?

That's pretty good man... Don't know to be honest, never worked it out. Bearing in mind I have bwarp-cone, so I like to make it make noise. I don't really ever look at the computer either
Although I did Horsham and back with driving around town yesterday on about £25 (around 120 miles) which is alright I suppose. Didn't go over 3k though, boring is not the word.

That's weird that dude, mine seems to be great whether I'm battering it or driving steady...
Could it be the induction kit? I've heard induction kits upset the MAF on these...

Yeah, mine isn't so much... It can get through an impressive amount of fuel in a short space of time if I boot it. I've got it down to 11 on the computer . It's good at a constant speed though.
The induction kit doesn't help because it spurs me on haha, but problems with MAF's only tend to occur if they're over oiled, which mine isn't. That's not to say mine isn't dodgy, they get worse over time apparently so hard to notice.

I can't wait to get mine sorted on Friday, should be even better with the new 'stat and temp sensor
Has the remap affected mpg much on yours? I think I'm gonna leave mine standard for a while, I'm not bored of the powaaaaaa yet

Again, it all depends... If you ride the extra torque, like anything really, you'll probably see better figures. If you're like me, and can't help but use the extra powaaah, then yeah, er, it'll probably be a bit worse!

I'm taking it to a meet at RS Tuning in Leeds and I'm gonna stick it on the dyno just to get a starting point, plus I'm looking for some wheels as well. I'm between refurbing the originals and going for some 18" RS6 reps, what do you reckon?

Just got back from Slaithwaite, they changed the 'stat, temperature sensor, seat adjuster and bled and flushed the cooling system, so now the heater works great, it's up to 90c within 3 minutes of starting and just sits at that temperature, the steering wheel isn't sat on my thighs and now it's running at the correct temperature I saw 47 mpg through the 50mph roadworks on the M62
Also, Dubbers have another VRS coming in next week with newly refurbed anthracite wheels, and the guy thinks it'll be easier to sell with standard wheels so I'm off to have a look and if I like the look of them he's doing me a straight swap
Was gonna give it a good clean and get some pics for a project thread but the weather is awful...
