TBH the only reason I'd ever consider a '6 would be for the noise. I prefer how mine drives, and with a straight pipe it sounds pretty fooking epic, just not quite as good as a '6.

To be fair, mine returned 37.5mpg on a run to Devon, that was with 100 miles around Dorking first and I wasn't really trying... so there was a fair bit of bwarp too

That's not that bad. I used to get 45mpg out of the Skoda with similar driving but it was off boost at 70 so then it's a modern 1.8 petrol...

Shocking round town though, not even 20mpg
