FYI - For one reason or another the engine build has been very slow progress over the last few months, anyway - finally we have results:
Bottom end is together Headwork is done, big valves are in and head is ported, polished and port matched Headbolts are here Gearbox and limited slip diff are ready to drop in I've built the big pump Have also managed to source myself a set of HiSpec big brakes, so they will go on when the car is all in bits. As soon as the engine is out and in pieces, the turbo will get sent out to have the bigger compressor wheel put in and the housing machined to suit. Should only be another few weeks before it's time to try it out! JP

Can't wait to see this! Be good to see the results of all the work, looks like a lot of thoughts gone into it.

Cheers Ben,
It's been a long time coming... I've been planning this engine build for a good 18 months now and it's nice to see it's finally coming to fruition! Not quite sure what's going to happen - might be a total flop, but the theory is all there anyway.... JP

I cant wait to see what this bottom end will produce torque wise if it all comes together nicely so you keeping the hybrid T25 setup but modifying?, will have to come up and have a look at your pump for ideas, ive not done much on modding apart from turbo so need your help bud over a coffee or a beer sometime soon
who did the headwork?? i really want bigger valves too, did you get the ceramic coating done? CJ also where did you end up getting rods done? have you stil got drawings handy?
25-09-2012, 09:39 AM
It's a GT25 hybrid I've been using with a 56mm compressor wheel and 330d exhaust wheel, but I'm going bigger.. going up to a 59mm compressor wheel with the same exhaust wheel, but modified for extra flow.
Headwork has been done by Hiflowheads up in Scotland. Exhaust Valves, exhaust manifold and piston tops have been ceramic coated. Rods were done in America by a company called Sanz, they still have the drawings - can probably get them if you want them? JP

Sweet love these mods as your the first to do them Il have to speak to you then as i want my spare head doing too soon yeah could do with the drawings, pm me price for rods can imagine they werent cheap but america are usualy reasonably prices as RE performance next door to my work buy forged internals from there all the time cant wait to see this come together ) good to see you got the lsd im still looking for a reasonably priced one CJ

Should be yeah, just waiting on the last couple of bits now and it'll be in the car by the end of the month all being well.
I'm hoping for a nice safe, reliable 220hp. JP

Hi guys,
Just to let you know for one reason or another this project has come to an end. Everything is for sale, turbo, pump, engine, big radiator etc. Message me if theres anything you want - prices are to get stuff shifted. JP

Unfortunately it's time to move on.
Things are getting REALLY expensive, i.e. £6000 to complete the new engine I was hoping to build. It's half built which is a shame, I just can't afford to complete it all. There is a successor to follow though.... JP

Jeez, what happened? Unexpected engineering bills?
It's a shame, opened the thread up as I was genuinely interested in progress
27-10-2012, 08:17 AM
A number of reasons mate, getting screwed by the company who are doing it.
2.2l bottom end is built, forged rods, forged pistons, the works - I just can't throw ANY more money at it. It's such a shame but enough is enough. The whole car owes me over £10,000 which for a 306 is just too much. I hope the parts of my current engine, and if anyone wants the 2.2l bottom end will go to a good home. JP

Fucks sake man, name and shame the company? If you're cutting your losses, no harm in dragging their name through the dirt as a warning to anyone else?
27-10-2012, 08:20 AM
Nope, I won't do that yet as I am taking them to court over it. Afterward I will be writing it up so you guys don't make the same mistake I did!

Good lad, tbh if a companies out to shaft someone it could well happen again.
27-10-2012, 08:24 AM
This is a massive shame! Your car is awesome!
27-10-2012, 08:24 AM
Genuinely gutted for you bud was doo looking forward to seeing this!! Mr lobbs and yours are the only 2 dervs Iam interested in and Iam a petrol head through and through!!
Oh and mr pelowes estate but that's for a different reason lol. Wonders if the bottom end would be good for a petrol build with mi16 top end and turbo?
27-10-2012, 08:25 AM
Would need different pistons, but have thought about it as a possibility.

That's crap. Is the no way of holding out til the court hearing? Might get damages payment to finish it all off?
Now I wish I had my old job at the moment now though, could of bought the build out and continued in my car. |
