This not a project car due to lack of funds and nagging Mrs lol, so the progress will be slow but hopefully it will look just how peugeot should of finished it off...those little things that makes the car look a whole lot nicer!!
I think the silver and black looks nice?
It was nice & boring when i bought it, so i've put a boot spoiler on it....
Got the alloys this morning.....and this is where i am so far...
I added a few things cheap items to the car and decided to take some pics of them and others whilst there...
Silver dash insert
Rear mud flaps and badges all round - cheers guys for the bits
HDI gearknob & gaitor
colour coded mirror covers & clear repeaters
thanks scott (admin) for my 1st leather steering wheel
bought these bosch foglights very cheap that needed refurbing...
I bought some primer and chrome spray and refurbed them...
Primed ready for the chrome top coat
2 coats of chrome spray, i will do another coat for good luck!
Before anyone mentions it yes i do know there is a run in both pics but when the lense is on the light you won't see it lol
Ready to fit pending receipt of relay
lowering springs arrived from mark_airey, ready for Kris to fit when he lower's the rest of the car
Friday ha ha....what a crazy day....
Thursday night about 6pm I agreed with Kris for him to change my cambelt, tensioner, waterpump, lower the complete car, fit my new OEM airbox & front fogs, stalk and relay.
Friday...
- I woke up about 6.30 am after a few hours sleep because I couldn't sleep, so felt tired, drove 142 hours (sorry miles...very tired) to be at Kris's house for about 9ish...
- Just got on the M4 and wound the tractor up, so I was going 75mph up a hill and guy in a very old, non-turbo 306 D overtakes me like Iâ??m going backwards and cuts back in to my lane, then massive plumes of oil smoke is seen coming from the front passenger side of the car and then the car locks up in front of me at 75mph.....evasive action was required!!
- When I was coming in to Horsham, there was an accident so I was held up for 20 mins
- I finally arrived at Kris's about 9.40ish
- we get to his workshop but cannot get my car in due it being blocked by another car, so we don't start working on it until about 11ish
- bit of a mare doing the above list, we also find out the boost pipe was leaking and then Kris advises me to service it as well....we don't finish until about 7.30pm.
- get a free can of coke and sandwich cooler for buying parts
- lower the car front by 45mm and the back 40mm
- see a fit foreign girl, laugh when she gets Kris wet with the hosepipe
- Then get in the car & drive for 2.4hrs back to Bristol!
All in all a long day but the now car runs, looks and handles better than it did on the way there!
Kris really knows his shit & i trust him with my car!
Before lowering
Hereâ??s one quickly taken pic before we left the workshop, i will get more pics soon....
thanks for the comments...as per the thread title "slowly getting there" lol
Many thanks to...
Mark for the springs
Alan for the foglights
Kris for a long amusing day
The motorway pug guy, for making me shit myself at 75pmh at 7.15 am!
Myself for having the fore-thought to make lots of lunch, which kris and I shared
Right, had some spare time and as we're having a little get together at Kris's tomorrow, i thought i'd give Simone a shower, put in my silver dial surround and the GTI-6 boot plastics and take some piccies of the pup!
The fitted dial surround, courtesy of Chris on here..
GTI-6 boot covers
Then found a suitable place for some pics, now MYA's been lowered and showered
when to Kris's yest and met a few people from here lol Ali, pat, scott and taylon - nice to meet you!
We had to go on the hunt for a HDI g/box for ali and ended up going to a scrappy, guess what i tripped over when walking about....a vented laguna splitter, so had that....also a 1000% bargin price....i think Taylon wanted it for his lol
Farted around for a while, then changed the bulbs for my fogs as they didn't work (easy job, took 10 mins to do both, having small hands is good sometimes lol) and then fitted the splitter.
Fitting the splitter meant that the front of my car was just in the workshop but whoever helped me with it was going to get wet....thanks Ali and Kris.
Pat thought it sets the front off well, apologies but its a poor pic taken before i left the yard.
Oh got home and there was a party in my house, showered and then on it until 4am.
I don't feel great and just found out a friend was stabbed in the chest this morning and died in the air ambulance en-route to hospital! RIP bod!!!!!!
Shout to cheese as i nicked his idea but improved it
i escaped the baby talk to fit my handbrake gaitor, such an easy mod that looks so much better.
This mod is simples.....
Buy a MGTF handbrake gaitor - £1.50 inc p&p from ebay,
I slide it over my Momo handbrake handle and cable tie to the momo handle,
slide the bottom part of the gaitor in to the slot
Hey presto...what a bargin and took 5 mins to do!!
thanks to GTIKyle for the new backbox...just waiting to be fitted now
As you know my backbox fell off and i had the hind-sight to buy Kyles.
There are no pics of doing the job as I has to complete the job quickly as there were MOTs backing up in my mates garage, as i was using the MOT bay.
Decating the car was done by using a ph 1 turbo-to-back box unit then the afore mentioned exhaust from Kyle.
Removing the old system from the cat back - 10 mins
Fitting new ph 1 unit - 20 mins
offering backbox to car so i can mark where the cut-out should be - 10 mins
Making cut-out - 60mins due to dremel breaking straight away so had to drill holes and file out to fit
Cuppa T and biscuits - 30 mins
Fitting backbox and readjusting the cut-out - 45 mins
Checking & topping up gearbox, engine & other levels - 20 mins
Inspection of whole car and tweaking - 30 mins
Ex boss taking my car for a spin after decat cos he loves my car - 30mins!!!! (there are some wicked country roads around cheddar!!)
The total garage bill was £80 which everyones going to say is expensive but i am happy with because it includes:
exhaust
oils etc
access to all the tools i need
access 2 a 4 poster ramp (they charged me for 1 MOT
+ it made the job easier
ex-boss checking my car over for nothing
Bad bits of the day
Ex-boss coming back from spin to advise me my clutch and clutch cable need replacing soon!!
Being charged for ramp use...usually on a sat its free for me but he lost out on 4 MOT's so billled me for 1 to recoup some money - i don;t mind it as i had all the tools to make the job easier than riggeling around on a wet floor lol
i might have to adjust the bumper cut-out?
After the above i ended up with the below, which i thinks sets the car off nicely.....not to sure on the loudness of it when the turbo kicks in
picked up and fitted my half leathers along with the strut brace....i don't have any pics yet but these are seats in phils car...except i have black door cards
i don't hav any pics of the strut brace but its a silver e-tech one..
- Fitted my ph3 stalk (brucey bonus but looks and feels new) so my crystals work properly - cheers drifterwannabe
- Yesterday had my HDI box fitted with new clutch and cable, the car now has a feather-lite peddal. Driving home i realised the car now needs a stage 1 tune as there's no torque for going up hills and the car only really boosts going down hills with the wind in your favour
- had the F/O/S wheel bearing changed
- a major service
- removed front bumper and re-sealed the foglights and changed the bulbs but only 1 works now...bloody french electronics
- bent exhaust mount so both rubbers fit but box still knocks on the bumper
cheers Kris B and his mate (forgot his name)
thanks to jay85 and intense, i have fitted my black pillar covers and my white dial kit. I finished it just before the rain came, so no pics yet
i didn't take any pics of the dials, pillar coverings but i did take a pic of something thats taken over a month.....
oh i am really bored now....guess you get the idea of how the projects come along lol
