That's pretty common on 106's, my GTI was pretty solid but it did need 2 little patches, one was about 2" by 1/2", and one was about an inch square...

You say that but even 1mm steel plate feels thicker than the standard bodywork and as theres gotta be an overlap its gotta be more weight.

Yeah now i re-read that I think you might be right.

I am working on lightness. unnecessary brackets, spare wheel and that sort of stuff have been removed. Got some perspex in the garage so I might do the rear windows.

Yeah but my NAD is lighter than pretty much any other car on the road anyway far less in "race spec".

The plate under the bonnet says:

1- 720kg
2- 690kg

So i assume its around the 700kg mark as standard.

Really would like to get it down to 600-650kg for lolz.

The scary thing i think that would pass an MOT. Apparently if the rust cannot be seen as in a plate to hide it they cannot remove the plate to see what is beneath it. Permanent fix if you ask me.

Yeah the plates are getting welded mate. I have borrowed a welder already so will do it at the weekend. cycling to work for a couple of days this week anyway so shouldnt be too much of an issue.

Got 4 306 steels ordered and paid for off ebay so just got to wait for them to turn up now.
Total was £76.95 posted (from different sellers) and I just gotta paint them and find tyres.

Anyone got any decent 195/45R15 part worns?

Shame, I've got a set of harriers in the garden, with about 5-6mm on all the tyres that you could have had for £40! probably heavier than the steels though I suppose.

Oh and at your rust repairs, quality stuff! :handgestures-thumbupright:

If you factor in £20 per tyre your thenn looking at over £150, could get cyclones with good tyres for that Not that anybody actually wants cyclones, do they?
