19-03-2015, 06:41 AM
Yeah, that, just wondering what the problem was.
19-03-2015, 01:23 PM
Yeah im pretty sure is it fully disengaging. I fitted a new cable to it as well so should be all good.
19-03-2015, 01:37 PM
Fairy snuff, i take it the new cable stopped the crunching into first? Glad to hear it's all sorted anyway, was beginning to wonder if it was even physically possible for you to have a working clutch on the bleddy thing lol.
19-03-2015, 01:59 PM
Lol, it had a new cable since i fitted the clutch, i had to get 1 as was xud style clutch before. As for it being hard to get into 1st gear it seems to of got a lot better with use tbh
19-03-2015, 10:03 PM
Ah fair, i'm with you.
So, you mentioned that once the clutch was sorted you would be going for more power..?

If so they came up real well ! We buy this alloy wheel cleaner stuff off the auto smart man. Its like £15 for 5 litres. Spray that on and leave it a few mins then clean it off with the pressure washer. It works pretty well though i tend to do it a couple of times to get them really clean. Its great for getting the brake dust off that has been on the inside of the wheel for years and years

Think I liked the silver tbh.
But looks good anyways. It's the spoiler and tints that set it off.

Been a while so a little pre FCS update. Decided i wasn't overly keen on the white nimrods on it for some reason so they have been put in storage and its back on silver nimrods.
I even decided to treat it to some new rubber on the front, very rare i buy new tyres and if i do they are usually cheap stuff but i decent to go 'mid range' and got some Kumho Ecsta so ill see how they go but so far seem decent enough Ever since i got the car and when Jonny had it since he fitted the GT20 it has always needed mapping accordingly to the turbo so i got in contact with Pro Steve (HDi tuning). I went for him as he was most local and i wanted him to have the car in front of him as had a few issues. Anyway i explained that i was flat out at work and couldn't have time off due to being short staffed so Steve ended up popping over to me (just over an hour away) which was ideal and a massive help. He come out and did his thing. Got it running a lot sweeter and pulling well. I highly recommend Steve to anyone wanting HDi's mapping, really nice guy and knows his stuff. Dove the car after he mapped it for a while and all going well. Obviously the next think was to find out what power it was producing. So a trip down to the rolling road at Tipton that a few of us use was in order. Ended up 3 of us going down with our cars, me Jimbo and Mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tQbODWl3-4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fpkzPejKCY So about the video quality was taken on my phone and the video REALLY doesn't do the sound justice tbh And the result 177.1 bhp at the flywheel, 144.8 bhp at the wheels and 279.1 lbf.ft. Pretty happy with the result though it would of been nice to hit the 180bhp mark to say its double stock power buy oh well. Just wish i had turned the boost up a tad and i reckon it could of hit it. Good news though the CG clutch seems to have settled it and is holding fine. And just for anyone that is interested this is a graph with mine and jimbo's stage 2 on. Thats pretty much it for now. Just a little bit of tidying up ready for FCS. Thanks for reading and maybe see you at FCS

Good result there, shame you couldn't get a bit more, but must be approaching the limit of the stock fuelling system now. That curve is lovely though, any idea why they stopped revving at 4k? Tbh that probably would have passed the 180 mark if they'd kept their foot in.

I was in the car watching the gauges and told matey to lift as we were closing in on 1100* on the manifold. Didn't think it was worth cooking the turbo yet. I reckon this thing will see a VNT within the next 12 months
02-06-2015, 12:19 PM
Pretty much what Mark said poodle, he was in the passenger seat watching the gauges and the EGTs were getting rather hot so the guy let off, bit of a shame but oh well.
You say reaching the limit of stock fueling what you meaning by that? Its got as R70 on it now Not so sure about VNT on this 1 fish
02-06-2015, 12:46 PM
Ah i see, fair enough. I forgot she had an R70 pump tbf, but then that will only ever add a few bhp, it's more for keeping clear of p0230. It's the injectors that seem to be the real restriction, need someone to start providing uprated sets if much more than 200bhp is to be achieved. How much boost are you running at the moment then? Surprised the egts were getting that high, would expect back-pressure to be minimal with that turbo and 3" system.

Have never seen the EGTs get quite so high as then when driving hard on the road. Running around 25psi at the moment so wouldn't want to push it much more over that
02-06-2015, 02:38 PM
Should be plenty enough air for a clean burn then, odd. Like you say, must just be the dyno putting it under more load than would happen in real life.
Back to the wheels, i reckon this would look great on some of those 16" steels tbh, keep the black and silver theme. |
