the general concensus is that the order is Purflux/wix, bosch, toilet paper stuffed in a cup, fram.. from best to worst..
a lot of comparisons of the bosch oil filters put them only a tiny bit behind the wix ones, as the oil filters at least seem to be made by Champion before they merged with Fram/Honeywell, now outsourced to Affinia (who make wix filters),
both bosch and wix use the smallest filtration size of 15um and 14um, respectively, in their media, and both have the largest media surface area of equivalent filters..
Have you seen the pictures of the bosch filter up there? Not being funny, but unless they've warped the fabric of space/time there is no way that filter has larger surface area to the oem one. I'd be interested to see a picture of all the filters you've got there side-by-side though, would be useful for comparison.
A lot of the issue is that a lot of filter manufacturers seem to specialise in certain vehicle manufacturers and outside of that remit aren't too bothered about what they produce. Fitted a Bosch air filter to a mercedes yesterday and it was very clearly much better than the alternative mann item, but then compare a bosch filter to the items mann offer for the lower cost cars (something like a fiesta) and they're barely any different.
Oil filter poodle, Oil.. that pic is the fuel filter
Given the choice between Niall and the sheep. I would choose the sheep!
