decided today to tackle one of the items on the list!

the dreaded Drivers door loom

   

Ive had some new looms in the garage ive been saving for this as i knew id be doing it again

so it started
removed door to release the loom
something was different to the last one i did
i couldnt release the loom on the inside of the car so i wouldnt be able to pull the slack back into the cabin
never mind there is a big enough space in the A pillar to eat it

after a few hours of cutting testing soldering and sleeving all was done

   

i found the copper loom wires on the car quite corroded, black copper is hard to solder, you cant unless you clean it up,
I used a more aggressive flux ; I used plumbers flux the same stuff they use for soldering copper pipes

i taped the loom up and fed it into the A pillar and refitted the grommet, refitted the door and tested

before i had no heated mirrors or rear screen as the fuse kept melting


   

but now i have it all working including electric window again


quick check to see if the fuse was running hot but no .......
