i guess if that's the look you're going for they'll be fine as show plates, i highly doubt they'd be legal for road use, as you're not allowed a background pattern
any more details on the starting issue you could give would help, does it turn over but not fire? or does it go flat? if it just goes flat, with the ignition off get a multimeter on the battery and check if theres any significant current draw, if there is it may be a bare wire somewhere creating a short, or one of the things on the car (alarm / stereo / lights ) may be on permanently, try unplugging things until the draw goes away..
