If it's done it from startup, sounds like the belt has slipped a tooth and you've bent a valve.
Bottom ends don't wear out in less than a minute unless you've no oil pressure.
If the noise is only when the engine is cold, it could be a sticking valve, and the "tapping" is air getting past the valve or the piston hitting it.
