The best way to drive safe is expect the unexpected and anticipate the road and observe whats going on around you. People rely on lights without using their common sense or awareness. If you go into the back of someone regardless of if they used their brake lights or not it is your fault as your not observing whats going on. Sorry for ranting but gets my goat when people say engine braking causes accidents is people not taking due care and attention that causes them type of accidents......
