Found out I was leaking fuel out of one of the leak off return pipes and fixed that along with replacing the coolant and flushing the system.
Got a chance to fill up last night and it took 19.09l to 266 miles which is 63.4mpg

thats 70 miles round town, 100 miles on the motorrway at 80mph and 94 miles sitting at 60mph

Might spoil the MPG a little bit and I really wouldn't feel safe in a 106 going fast!

I think it would be bloody tight but the XUD fits so it should go in there just about

What, a XUD7? If so how is it f*cked and how much do you want for it.

Right I finished servicing the car today, did the oil, oil filter and fuel filter and made a new intake pipe as mine had collapsed and it now actually accelerates. The difference is amazing.
The bleed nipple for the fuel pump is on top of the filter housing and in trying to bleed it up a was holding a cloth on top of it to stop too much fuel escaping but still let the air out, anyway it turns out i was pressing a little hard and when i moved my thumb i sent a rather impressive fountain of diesel and air 10ft into the air.

I also started sanding and painting the bonnet (red hammerite FTMFW)

I stupidly made the mistake of deciding to paint the small patches of rust in the boot, anyway it turns out the boot floor is hardly attached at the sides. These pictures dont show really how bad it is as id only cleaned up the inside at this point. Now ive done the outside bits it looks really bad. Im gonna get some more pics and have to plate it tomorrow.

Got a load of hammerite, waxoyl and red oxide primer to keep any further corrosion at bay.

Cant believe it passed an MOT like that 2 weeks ago. Gonna report it to VOSA.

Heres the rust after last nights wire brush and scraper action.

Gonna get the grinder out and cut off some bits so ive got better flat surfaces to plate. Dont have a welder ATM but may hire one on pay day or actually buy one so it may have to survive being pop rivited for a week.

Got all the bad bits cut out with straight edges. Ground most of it back to bare metal.
Then gave it a couple of coats of red oxide and started making up plates which are rivited till i can get hold of a welder

cool, ill probably be there till the last lot bugger off anyways, not really sure to be honest, fiver or summat? think the roll of wire i've got was about 15 quid, and ill be very surprised if you manage to get through half of it haha. maybe just see how much you use and we can sort it out when i pick it up/you drop it off?you'll probably have to get gas tho, think my bottles empty. bout 13 quid from halfrauds or a welding shop iirc

ehhhmmm not sure. the wire i have isnt gasless, but i dont see why it wouldnt run with gasless stuff, but you may need a bigger nib. its got 1.6mm wire in it at the mo iirc...
surely gasless wire would cost more than a bottle of gas?
