Yeah, managed to fish the end of the regulator out of the pump with a pair of needle nose pliers, came out in one piece so just refitted the healthiest looking of my pressure regulator selection and matts fuel filter housing lid (bloody snapped mine didn't I)  it started first piston up, no throttle needed Smile

Get a new lid on tonight and fingers crossed it will drive without dying at 2700 rpm

Finally made it home after 3 weeks after raiding the scrappy for a filter housing on the way home.

Feels so loose and slow compared to the 6 but I'm just over the moon to have a fully functional diesel daily again

Almost 200 miles done with no running problems, however it developed a fuel leak from down the side of the tank, fixed now as it was just the top of the lift pump not on tight enough.  New issue is clutch slip in 3rd and 4th, probably just some diesel that's made its way onto the friction surface from all the times I've had the fuel filter, fuel rail, injectors on and off

Few hundred miles done with no no fuel issues apart from leaking injectors (get my spare set refurbished soon)

But the clutch slip was getting really bad in all gears, so today I had it all apart and fitted:

4 paddle unsprung cg clutch
New gearbox fork bushes
Fresh fluid
New crank seal
Baker bm solid gear linkages
New wishbones and balljoints
New droplinks.

Spent most of the day fixing a sheared subframe bolt annoyingly but back together now.

Nearly ready for stage 2 map now, just need to sort out a decent intercooler, before that though the brakes and suspension need sorting, hdi brakes are wank, need to get some gti6 items fitted and I have a knocking rear beam and leaking struts on the front...  Seems to be never ending with this car but at least it's being done.

Finished up today and taken for a drive, bit of a judder setting off unless you dump the clutch but I guess that's all part of fitting a race clutch in the first place lol.

Toseland was over today and has given me very naughty ideas for hdi related upgrades :p

I'm still not sure if it was a good purchase or not haha, the clutch is slipping again and it's leaking diesel.
Just to top off how unlucky this car seems to be for me, some mong in a polo driving on the wrong side of the road smashed my mirror off tonight!

I couldn't see their front or rear plates Sad they were following too close to the car in front of them and there was a line of cars behind them. All I saw was it was a 2004 silver polo, so if you see one missing the drivers mirror on your travels...  :p

Can't believe my bad luck with this car! The f*cking clutch is slipping worse than before I changed it and the release bearing sounds like the bell housing is full of gravel. All brand new parts and only lasted 350 miles trying to bed them in. Looks like the 2nd clutch Change in a month coming along Sad

Its that diesel pouring into the bell housing mate Sad fix the injector leaks and try my paddle clutch in there?

I sorted the leaks out a while ago and made sure that it didn't have chance to drip onto the gearbox Sad although where it's been spilling down the front of the block it could've worked it's way through the bottom behind the flywheel. Still doesn't explain to me why the release bearing has gone though :/

Yeah cg 4 paddle unsprung, should be rated to take as much torque as an hdi can produce at stage 2 yet iit can't seem to cope with a stage 1 125 map without slipping

Put a genuine valeo in, it'll be cheaper, longer lasting, more drivable and generally a lot better all round.
