I've voted again, would love to see you top ten. Had a look at the top photos and alot of the ones after you are cute birds who are always gonna get lots of likes, the 2 ahead of you appear to be the same family as all the tractors and people in the background are the same.

It will get an engine soon, I just need to shift this cummins out of the workshop! Ideally finishing it before then!

Well in anticipation of getting this bus in the 'shop soon I had a spare afternoon today so decided to clear the car out this afternoon...As with most things parked up for so long, it quickly becomes a storage container of parts from not only itself, but all the other "projects in progress"...

So after a few hours of sorting stuff out, hoovering it out, and just generally sorting it out, I was left with a car back in roughly the same shape it was when I laid it up 3-4 years ago!






Also after many hours spent farcing / messing about with steels / tyres / banding, I am rather fed up with them, and have pretty much decided to sack them off in favour for something else, made of alloy! But not really sure what at the moment, so if anyone can help / throw some ideas out there id most appreciate it, want to keeps its general stance, and need to keep fairly wide, although can obviously be spaced out a bit if needed, but just not feeling the steels, and fed up with the lack of anyone being able to do a decent job of it!

Shame really, the banded steels would have looked pretty epic on the finished product, shame they were so royally screwed! You gonna stick with the JD yellow idea though?

Something like pro race 3's or mo5's thick spokes fairly wide would still look good in yellow!

I am not a fan of banded steels either, but it does look good on them. bet they heavy too.

Darren will correct me if wrong, but I'm sure his current wheels are 16" if not 17"

15" be lost i tink. Plus same issue with banding, plus be a crime to cut up a lightweight c5, if its even possible due to the metal properties of one of them!

Current steels are 16", looking to stay 16" if possible, 8-8.5J, altho spacing can be an option anyway...

The problem I have is an obsession with naughty super lows / stance, and also the need to drive the ballsack out of my car, two things that basically just dont go well together, so more a compromise is needed, but the problem I often find is alot of wheels look amazing when decked, but soon as you raise it just the bit enough to be able to drive a car hard, it looks silly.

I had a set of TH lines once, with the car on its bum it looks incredible, but would simply not have been drivable static like this...And as much as I want to love the steels, there just a nightmare for getting to run inline, stopping from rusting, and just generally a mincefest!

-Keep it simple and resort back to some stock peugeot wheels like 205 speedlines / challengers like I used to have?

Would like to try and get the thing in the workshop in a few weeks time as other projects are drawing to a close, and first project is the rear beam etc, so wheels needed!

I don't think the speedlines are the way to go. Challengers would probably suit being yellow though Imo.

16" 406 steels and suitable spacers, they are Et18 standard anyway.

Oh and I recognise those brackets on the big methanol tank, glad they are still working well.

Sorry I know the thread is a bit boring for the time being, but I made myself a promise and that was to sort the car out this time before I get involved in the motor, as once that happens all hope for the car is lost! And its coming on for being 20 years old now, and was in dyer need of some love, so I'm determined to sort the car out first!

Anyway there is a bit of an update, we got the roof etc back on the cummins ready for safety inspection etc, which means I was able to push my car back in the 'shop again, how long it will stay in there this time before something else kicks it out again I don't know, however its in for now, so had better make the most of it!

So pushed it in:





And proceeded to drop the beam:










Followed by the fuel tank / fuel lines / brake lines and cables etc:






Then it was time to start the fun task of rubbing down all the underside / wheel archs etc to get back to bare metal / paint, so remove all the crud / underseal etc to investigate any rust / problems:











As you can see a fair bit of surface rust around, and 3-4 places more serious, so once I have cleaned up the rest of the underside / front wheel archs, theres a few places that I'm going to have to chop out / weld in new steel, Yes I could just paint over it / leave it, but little point in burying the issue, might as well sort it all out now, so thats where we are at right now!
