The bought not built estate
#1
Its about time i got round to sorting a project thread so here it is. As some of you have probably seen a couple of weekends ago me and Mark made the trip to Southampton to pick up a certain estate off Jonny. Im sure it will always be called Jonny's estate but now its in my ownership and i hope to carry on the work Jonny has put in to this.

So anyway Mark helped me out big time by driving his truck and trailer so we could pick it up

[Image: 006C9AAD-5B6B-47A2-94FC-9EF914A28A00_zpsi4pux6gt.jpg]

We got it back and is down my work while i do some bits to it

[Image: F7B4246A-598E-4E34-9286-414932FD4B4B_zps7ap0lbi9.jpg]

And a pic of my 2 Derv machines

The plan is to make it into more of a daily (plans can change) so have all the interior back in and seats etc. Power wise im not really sure, the gt20 will of course be staying on and poss look into getting it mapped to the turbo though i haven't driven it yet so i dunno what it is like. Suspension im not sure on but i will see how it rides and go from there as i do drive on some lovely farm roads. I will be putting it back to power steering though.

So i made a list of bits i want to do and started buying bits and searching around. I got a complete hdi engine off Dangti6 so i got all the aux set up so i can put the power steering back on. Also got various bits off Mark off the estate that he was breaking and some other bits off Jimbo off the hdi he was breaking. Oh and a few bits from the scrap 306s my boss has, so i have been doing a bit of car part shopping. The estate is a good place to store the bits

[Image: 5EDC204F-86EB-47D8-84C5-56641F6E402D_zps94afdkmo.jpg]

I think i have pretty much got everything i need now. I have put the interior back in now apart from the rear seats and have changed all the door cars back to the leather pattern

[Image: 22ADDA26-E12B-43BD-A9C4-EB5C5DBAEB3D_zpsuforcwvx.jpg]

Thats about as much as i have done now. This weekend i plan to do the clutch and put the power steering back in. My plan is to drop the complete engine out as it will back life a lot easier to do it all. So i will report back on how i get on over the weekend. 1 thing i have do ready is press and genuine Peugeot bottom engine mount in turned 90 deg as it currently has a poerflex which is ripped and a bit to harsh anyway i think

Plenty more to come so watch this space Smile

Attention to detail as per usual.

So work has been going on with this, i just haven't had much spare time to write some of it up. Last weekend i dropped the engine out to do the clutch and refitted the power steering and a few other bits and bobs. Got the engine all back in and running. Just got a bit of tidying up and little bits and bobs left to do. I have got a few pics that i will load up when im down work as the internet at home in pants.

Will try and get a bit more done tomorrow and hopefully it will be nearly finished. My plan was to get it on the road at the start of October but i do need to ring up to see what damage the insurance is going to do on my bank balance.

Will plan to update tomorrow with some pics for you guys

So yeah a fair bit has happen to this, just been flat out lately as pretty busy at work and trying to get this thing sorted. Basically it is now on the road and i have been driving it since Saturday. Racked up about 80 miles so far all seem seems good apart from a strange vibration noise that seems to happen mostly in 1st and 2nd which i think is exhaust or gear selector related which i will try and sort as its a bit annoying. It does seem to pull well and sounds pretty epic.

So any way back to the pics i promised, the engine came out

[Image: 98D19347-982F-46D9-87E5-1EEA0863F705_zpsq1lithzs.jpg]

And i had 306 bits all over the workshop

[Image: 93C8E38B-9810-4D17-8F74-ABC6363EDD42_zpsxkldrw0t.jpg]

The cg paddle clutch that come out the car that was pretty worn out and now been replaced with a valeo for the time being

[Image: DA65B977-AF56-40DC-B3DB-A8A9716B2BC5_zpsip1zagb2.jpg]

[Image: 6A37462D-579A-4588-83ED-B4FDAAAFCF96_zpsurgvwlp9.jpg]

Chucked all the bits back together and it looked something like this

[Image: E2C72EE0-9AA1-4F85-AFF7-7A1F792C3801_zps8t0rgbb5.jpg]

[Image: 9F129439-AA5C-4988-B53A-E8C8549A48F2_zpso2fvbzwm.jpg]

So the engine was in and running but there was a few bits i want to sort/tidy up. I had to sort out the air intake due to not being able to have it where it was due to fitting the power steering. Fitted the ecu bracket that i had to modify to make fit and sorted out a junction box for the live wires in the engine bay

[Image: A63E15C0-E9A0-4310-A475-E50824E3D800_zpsw9myuily.jpg]

[Image: 4E82A7D0-C6F0-4D1E-AE0C-43F38AD36C40_zpsrh24xm7d.jpg]

Thats about it for pics, haven't got any of the car as it stands now but will try and sort some this week. Got a few bits to do to keep me busy. Need to decide what im going to do for wheel. I got the black clones on there at the moment which i do like as usually i dont like black wheels but on this car they just seem to work but they could do with a tidy up so may whip them off and spray some fresh paint over them.

Got some black mask i have just about finished so will get them fitted this week as well. Any way comments welcome and will up date again soon

Yeah had a few bits to do before it went on the road but got there in the end.

Hopefully ill fit the black masks tonight. They should look pretty good as black seems to work well with the this car like the wheels, tints and bonnet badge

It did but Jonny had them on his cab. He did ask which i would rather had but i didn't mind. Gave me chance to do something i hadn't done before doing the black masks. In which i didn't make the best job but not to bad for my first time

Yeah you maybe right, when i first knew i was getting it i was really keen on getting some nimrods back on it but then when i picked it up i quite liked the black clones. But i am keen on having a set of nimrods to at least 'try'

Yeah will have to meet up at some point now it's on the road. I am loving it now it's on the road. Just want to sort out the rattle I got that's annoying me. It really is an epic sounding machine though

Yeah i am tempted. It did look good when Jonny had the white nimrods on it

Its a bit of a strange 1. Its a rattle sound and can feel it vibrating under the driver it feels like. It only does it in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear dont think it has ever done in in 4th or 5th which is the strange thing. It don't do it on light acceleration but anything a bit harder than light acceleration it does it. Cant see anything obvious. The exhaust is clear of everything unless you really do give it a good shake and it hits the rear bumper a bit. Gear rods and linkage is all clear of everything as well it seems

I did change the drive shafts when I put the engine back in so I do wonder if that could be my issue. That will be my next port if call I think

I'm confused... is it still a stock clutch in this? Or have you put a decent one in? I think it will make a lot more power when we map it - so I'd be concerned about slipping the clutch.

Got a bit more done to this. I finally finished and fitted the black masks which i think really do set it off nicely. Anyway i made use of the kitchen when my mum was away on holiday

[Image: FB4119C4-3FB1-4950-B9D9-9359575495FD_zpsr8jrsd6l.jpg]

Got the inners sprayed up and cleaned the grooves out for the sealant that was a bit of a pain to do and i did stab myself a few times with the screwdriver. Got them stuck back together and let them set of a few days

[Image: 86AD4F7D-742D-463F-9A06-AFD970D940B8_zpsfmgsprd9.jpg]

There not the best job but there were my first 1s i had done so pretty happy with them. A couple pics of them fitted

[Image: 9DF57496-8814-4080-B5B6-648F0AAA468F_zpsp4ym7w6m.jpg]

[Image: 2EC5B562-1373-4301-B873-F9193BAC1CDE_zpsrlhk3u7g.jpg]

Next up some half leathers popped up on facebook local and i offered £30 and he accepted so i got them. Cleaned them up but they do had a few marks i cant get out but im not to worried but hopefully i should be able to get my hands on some better front 1s. I think they may only be temporary as will have leaf pattern to match the door cards

[Image: BD0C46E5-FAAF-4B6B-A3C5-FF9ECB5417F0_zps3uz7upvy.jpg]

I also got the black sun visors that were for sale on here last week to match the black roof lining.

[Image: 6469D2ED-DA4E-4129-B42E-BAF3C34156F0_zpssxdll7gy.jpg]

Been have slight issues with seeing where im reversing in the dark mainly due to the tinted rear lights i think so i got some CREE LED lights to try. Hopefully they will make an improvement

[Image: 24CACEAE-1BDC-4D3B-BEF4-43073986426A_zpsbd2jxmgd.jpg]

Vs standard bulb

[Image: 32BC07DF-CEE7-4893-9708-3E7CE8063FE6_zpssvqxyvis.jpg]

Other than that not much has happened. Im pretty sure the rattle/vibration noise has to be the exhaust knocking somewhere. The only place i can think it can be is the sub frame so will look into that on the weekend i expect

The valeo is really only just holding in there now as well and has slipped on the odd occasion so think it maybe time to save the pennies up for a helix

Good job man, it's almost like watching my project thread go back in time, refitting the interior and making her look/feel more standard. I like that you're going a bit more sleeper with it! Are you going to refit the grille?
