Did them fractionally shorter than the standard items just to take out any slack that was in the movement of the gear selectors. Feels perfect now. If you can, get the car on a ramp to fit them, space is pretty tight on a '6 lump and I certainly wouldn't like to remove and fit linkages lying under the car Oh yeah, had the car on the ramp yesterday fitting new parts and seeing all was well after the fcs trip and I found this: [attachment=16701] It wasn't a hole until I bashed it a bit and wire brushed it clean but looking under the car with a torch noticed a fresh looking patch of underseal and found it to be crusty underneath. The metal around it is still solid, just a 50p sized hole, cleaned it all off for now and coated it in primer, hopefully be able to get it welded this week and change the n/s cv boot that's developed a pinhole since fcs.

Ouch, not good finding a hole. I have a rust patch in drivers side arch that I need to clean up and seal.
Ok mate cheers for that, I have some on the way from baker bm as they ran out when I got there.

Shame about the rust but apart from that, looking really good!

After finding it I went right around the car again checking for more and it's looking good. We did find a patch when the new beam was going on but sorted it then. The problem here has been caused by the previous owner the whole underside has been doused in waxoyl which is a good thing I guess apart from he didn't treat what then would have only been a patch of surface rust I guess

Welding booked for Saturday morning :-)
Changed the weeping cv boot last night, absolute joy to work on this car, everything greased up and comes apart effortlessly, took about 20 minutes from getting the wheel off to doing the hub nut back up haha Went for a quick hoon across the border since it was a nice evening, going down through the gears coming to a roundabout something metallic fell off and heard it ping off down the road, nothing obviously broken or missing after a roadside inspection but still not something you want to hear whilst driving haha. I'll investigate tonight

Hah, must be be all that grease mate!

I took out a catseye on the way home from FCS...sounded like something HUGE hitting the underside of the car!
by the way mate, that ramp looks dodgy, holding the car on its side Wishes for more power...

Could just be a clip or bolt that someone/you dropped that was kicking around in the engine bay somewhere. I've removed things and found clips and bolts sitting about under stuff before, and I'm sure I've left a few around.

Early start today for gti6 surgery... massive thanks to my pal Jamtech motorsport for the welding (the guy who has got my 106 rallye as his next job)
pictures: treated the rest of the area you can see rust starting while it was all stripped back, now all seam sealed, primed, painted and stonechipped but no pictures of that because my battery died. also cleaned up some more of the floor pan and under sealed down the sills and around the jacking points, starting to look pretty nice under the car now haha

Yeah exactly that.
I ended up marking where I wanted it and welding the bottom collar onto the 306 stick. Then using shims for the top one Wishes for more power...
