sun's been out for 5 mins today so have offered up the plate and marked the hole for the engine mount nut
droped the plate in and it fitted first time
so i masked up the plate so i could mark the centre point for the mount bolt
i refitted the top mount arm and buffers and pulled the engine central to the mount cup and marked the plate below with a pen through the top bolt hole.
now to drill a clearance hole and weld a captive nut on the lower side of the plate

Repair day today!
removed paint to get a good weld
ive welded this in with an arc stick welder as the original plate was quite thick,
offered up and tacked the plate then reasembled the top mount to make sure it was in the right place.
be warned the rubber mount is quite big so dont weld the plate to far back into the cup or the mount wont screww in properly
cleaned off the paint so i could weld some side filler plates to limit the forwards back movement too
Note the belting protecting the engine from debris entering the Aux/Cam belt
filler plates welded
cleaned up before paint
all masked up
Nice Coat of primer before the topcoat

i dont want to be offering this as a service i sell, i dont mind messing up my car but other people get quit pissy if you feck up there car
there is a guy in southampton that offers this service for £120
Davyboy on the GTi6 forum if anyone wants his mobile i can pm it to you for you to contact him
he is the same guy that supplyed my solid rear mount plates
to be honest its a good price i was considering using him for the plates but he only offers a fitting service only and that didnt help me as my car is sornd at the moment

not yet waiting for a bracket to turn up to drop the PAS pump to the AC pump position. as that looks the easyest way of doing it without going full Rallye set up and those pulleys are expensive
should make for easyer servicing too as i can reach the oil filter too then

Tidy job on the engine mount, I don't think I'll be a real man until I can weld stuff.
Serious.

Exactly what happened to mine but the rust was a lot worse. Have cleaned all mine up on the gti. Was rusty but only surface rust and have re sealed it. Lovely job!
