Looking good Cully.

Is this just a rebuild or have I missed something?

JP

yes JP its a rebuild refresh
i bought the engine as a scrapper, but found the problem was not what was originally diagnosed, so have decided to refresh the engine/head with new bearings and rings so it will be a good drop in and go package for my Gti6

Making good progress with this mate. Is this going to be a reserve engine or by the time its finished you'll just want to drop it in straight away?
Doesnt even own a 306.

been grinding in the valves today got to the last inlet valve and i find one im not happy with

it was tight to insert and was stiff sticking going to full lift so took it out to inspect it and found this dig in the side of the stem

im going to replace this valve as it will only wear the guide and tear up the valve stem seal

made a start stripping the block down, as im waiting on a valve, before i can reasemble the head.

im glad to say ive shed some more blood and skin.
I was trying to undo the two bolts through the back of the bracket that holds the power steering pump and alternator,
tight buggers but i won in the end.

this engine has been apart before for sure, but to what extent im not sure yet, but the sump deffo looks like its been removed and resealed as some point

on the up side ive found one 13mm 3/8 socket 2 spare inlet studs and a power steering pump bolt down the back of the alternator

When I started stripping the XUD for the first time I found 3 8mm nuts, a torx bit and a tip from a magnetic pickup tool behind the alternator bracket! Lol

all this praise and still no rep!

as for the head gasket being MLS, i dont know, event the parts guy didnt know, he said he'd have to order to find out,
and also the engine gasket kit, i dont know what that includes, it may be all of the gaskets that are needed,
cause when i asked if peugeot did a head gasket kit they said no,
but since i found that kit on service box
