Nialls supercharged GTi6 - project tidy up
I'm sure you'll be pleased you kept it once you've got the charger on and running! I take it your buying everything seperately rather than going for the lynx kit that everyone seems to have? Are you using the same charger that they use in the kit or have you opted for something different?

The charger i am using is a Eaton M42. Its a different type of charger from the Rotrex ones. The 'roots' style charger like the eatons is generally less efficient and noiser and creates more heat than a Rotrex style however the Roots ones are much more fit and forget. No oil changes (a litre of Rotrex oil is over £100!) and no need for external oil supply. Also, Eatons are much cheaper.

Clearly if you had any sort of intelligence Yashar, you would understand that this is exactly the opposite of a pre made kit.

Look forward to following the project. I've only ever seen people use the bolt on kits, so this will be much more interesting!

Right done some work on my spare engine today. Went to pick up my bargain engine stand from a really nice bloke on the 205 forum who also had a beautiful 205 with a gti6 lump in.

Bores are in a surprisingly good condition considering the engine has done 102k. The top end had recently had a rebuild i think but after taking it apart, the bottom end hasn't been touched. The engine was a snapper however it snapped at idle and the only damage to the bottom end is a mark on one piston in the carbon on top of the piston lol.
Tomorrows job is to clean up the pistons, remove the old rings and start giving the block a good clean ready for tarting up.

Oh and as promised, pics

New rad, R26 IC and Oil cooler

Nice new Omex 600

Refurbished head.

Still deciding on a colour scheme for the engine bay but i have a feeling it will include candy purple lol.

Standard compression. These engines are good up until 250-260hp before anything like that needs changing.

so you wont be running no more than 5-7 PSI?

Correct Smile
If i end up lowering compression later on for more boost, it will be with proper pistons and rods.

Not sure tbh. The right hand outlet goes straight back so should go past the rad nicely. Haven't decided what to do about the other side yet lol.

Yeah dan it was Smile

The only way to do the other side is over the top of the rad and under the slam panel, unless you're going to start mucking about with a different size rad or hacking up your light cluster.

Lol need to paint a few other bits that colour then just tidy everything up in general. Not going to OTT as it will just get dirty again lol

Also, new oil cooler arrived today and map sensor. Pissed off about the map sensor as i bought one that was advertised as genuine magneti marelli (cheap ones dont last 5 minutes) and it turns up labeled and bagged in a webcon bag. Sad
