Is it possible to do it with a non adjustable lens, using the settings on the camera alone? No worries mate .
With the reverse mount or just normal extension tubes, not really. You have to set the aperture on the camera and then remove the lens, so it would be fixed to that whilst shooting. I've got the tubes with the connectors though, so you can still control it .

I'd love a decent camera that would take shots like these, no good having the tools if you don't know how to use them though!
Epic pictures mate
30-08-2013, 11:31 PM
Cheers guys . Currently getting the bits together for making a macro rig, as I can't afford a proper one...

If it interests you, start out by picking up a bridge camera. They can be had cheap and still give you options to play with, without too much outlay .

I have a bridge but I ain't a clue how to use it properly!! 'Auto' ftw!
31-08-2013, 02:52 PM
Well then, have a play with the settings and get it off of auto Sean!
You too Mr Bush, stop being lazy . I've just been and bought some alu strip, so now just got to wait for a few (read: a lot) of deliveries.

I usually use my iPhone as i always have it, I've got a Sony cyber shot point and shoot type of thing but would like something with a bit more to play with
Is there any bridge cameras you would recommend?
31-08-2013, 03:34 PM
You can't beat a decent camera, doesn't compare to a phone! I had a Panasonic Lumix FZ8 years ago which was great, I think Matt bought the next model from my recommendation and likes it.
You can also pick up an entry level DSLR for not much money at all. Something like a D3100, think they're about £300 new with kit lens. My old Olympus E-510 was a lot of camera for the money.
31-08-2013, 03:35 PM
Epic pictures would love go get in to it, think I may look in to cameras all though I have no idea what I'm looking at
31-08-2013, 03:48 PM
Well I can do my best to help, I don't pretend to know what I'm doing or talking about though
It all depends on what you want to do and how much you'll use it IMO. But if you're interested, a bridge camera like I've already mentioned is a cheap, easy and portable option to get started.

Depends what one you go for... You can pick up an older one for pennies now. See post above for my recommendation, there are plenty of other good options but I haven't had first hand experience with them. My mum has a 30x optical zoom Fuji one which was around £140 I believe, when I bought it for last Christmas. My Lumix cost £100 years ago and I sold it this year for like £40.

The ones above weren't with the reversed lens no, they were with extension tubes and 55-300mm. I want to play some more with the reverse mount though...
Cheers . Haha, nice try... |
