Take it to somewhere that offers a free retest and see how it goes, if the EML is picked up on then you were right, you'll have a week to sort it out anyway.

Well that makes a change then! Dodgy

It'll be going to the garage at the end of my road, I can't put up with being away from home with no car for an hour or so while they do MOT, simple as that.

Also, it can't be driven if it fails can it? I thought that was the idea of them bringing in the new online system and the shitty 'receipt' rather than a certificate now?? Which is why I said it needs to be done and passed within a day really, as I cant really afford the £20 to insure the Avensis for another week while I sort the HDi, although obviously thats the only option if it fails majorly.

depends if the old mot cert is still valid or not. you can drive it if you mot it before the old one expires, and if it fails, the previous one is still valid.
otherwise, you can still drive it to and from a test centre, or a place to fix it

I know thats how it used to work.

But now as its instantly put on the MOT database, I thought regardless of how much MOT was left on the old one, it was failed? Its still got about 3 weeks atm.

And I know you can drive it to a place to fix it...but I dont think driving to ECP for parts would count haha.

This is correct..... But it's illegal to drive a car that you know is not mot worthy.

If your that worried pay for a ore mot check.

Yeah you can drive it to and from test centre if you can prove its booked in. But not personal use.

But in all fairness before you start spending sams and your own money on it you should of tool it straight for mot. You just know they'll find something you don't. If its a costly one you'll regret spending the money and it could of been saved to paint the wheels on the avensis pink!!!

I cant afford to keep the avensis either. I'll have to sell it and get that china HDi if theres anything majorly wrong with this one. Either that or I'll just stop going out, dont really know why I bother most of the time anyway lol. Must say though, the HDi has had the same effect as the NAD in that I'm not going out until I have to, thus saving fuel, not even done 200 miles this week lol.

on the MOT fail sheet itself, it says the previous certificate is valid until the previous expires, you can drive the car still but it advises to get it repaired as quickly as possible and take it back for a retest.. Mine failed yesterday so the sheets about as fresh as it'll get

I know what you mean dude. But just get it booked in and tested before messing around cos you could be spending time fixing something that isn't a failure.

I know how it is not having a car. It was great I was saving money like mad even though I was spending money each week trying to get it going. But I was bored and getting depressed cos I'd just split up with mrs few months ago (time when you need your mates) but I couldn't get out to see them! So I was at home all the time thinking and wanking!

Now I got my shitty little corsa I'm out all the time and skint cos im saving like mad for new car. As in £200 a week then £30 budget for fuel which in a 1.2 corsa I finished off Monday night and got paid Friday! But I'm off out every night with 3 different girls at the moment and each one is helping me to get over my ex having a boyfriend Big Grin

Ah right, that's proved it then! Hope it didn't fail too badly!

It'll need luck haha...now, is it worth asking them to do the CV boot before the MOT or put in knowing it'll fail on that BUT then can see what else it fails on?

Just put it in. I thought one of my cars was going to need cv boot but they didn't fail it. Must of missed it.

Soooo, most of you know it passed MOT with just a few advisories....not bad for a car thats been sitting for months......and then had to put up with being fixed by myself and Sam....and then took a few weeks of abuse lol. lol

Anyway, looks like it'll be needing brake hoses and a driveshaft soon...but apart from that, it all seems to work ok, if a little slow and thirsty lol. But tbhI think the injectors are just worn, with the noise they're making I don't think they're in thier prime lol, gonna lose a few horses and mpgs with worn injectors. I won't do anything with them though, I'll leave that entierly up to Sam when he gets it back. Smile

My injectors are fairly noisy and I just ignore it, there are worse things in life.
