I don't get it, you constantly whine about how you hate the Golf and miss the 306, so you've gone and bought another Golf? Tell me you haven't just bought it because you prefer the look of 5-door cars....

Haha, it was as close as I could get to a china meridian....while still having a quick and economical engine too (And don't go telling me HDi's are quick.....or economical! )
And you guys won't understand the reasons behind buying this one yet (probably not for a few months tbh), but as said, this one is a project, compared to the other one which was just a '60mpg a-b workhorse'.
The silver one will be sold after next week, its got a lot of shit to shift next week before I get rid lol.
When I have a quick diesel daily, and can sort out a few things when college finishes, I may be looking at something with bwarp and 16 valves for the summer.
Also Dan, the numberplate ends in FOJ.....hence Fodge, otherwise people keep saying 'the golf' and I don't know which one they mean!

Mine bloody don't.......the more I spend the more they break! Just bodged together most of the silver one in the end lol......after expensively fixing everything on the 306s.....I decided not to bother with the silver golf.
On a serious note, this golf is newer and has less miles, and also has much better spec inc climatronic, cruise control, cupholders, ESP and a few other bits as standard. As well as the obvious having a decent colour (never thought colour would make as much difference to me as it does!) and also the 5 doors. Tbh not sure how I lived with a 3 door for the last 8 or so months as 5 doors are a hell of a lot easier to live with!

Just because I don't have a conventional job doesn't mean I don't work for money mate!
I have actually also used some inheritance to buy this one (which was much cheaper than the silver one!) And will stick whatever I get from the sale of the silver one back into savings.
I will continue to be mpg fanny (and the mpg will even get better with the remap too) however I'll certainly have some more fun in this one.
Tbh I wish is bought this one (or one similar) the first time round as I do actually quite like this one lol. . I've also got a little motivation to do stuff with this one whereas I didn't with the previous one.

tom,i wasnt having a pop at ya fella, fare play in earning a few quid on the side and spending your inheritance on an upgraded car.
so we wont see no change in the fanny side of you with the mpg then. :?
thats sods law for you, but you could say it gave you a taste of how golfs are.
i did the same with the 306 dturbo, it was a great car so i thought yeah buy the HDi next.
if the old doesnt sell, id either break it or use it as a project car for practical work hence what my rover metro was for afew moons ago
you have also reminded me i need to sort a savings account out aswell.

It's not that mate, it's bloody hard to buy a £2200 car outright when your paying rent, council tax, TV, interwebz, phone, gas and electric, food, pets, insurance, not to mention a missus dipping in and out of your bank account every 2 minutes, petrol is the least of my worries!
/rant
On a serious note though, the Skoda gets 25mpg sat in stationary traffic and 42-44mpg on a run, it's cheap for a quick car really when you take into account the higher price of diesel
I'm probably getting rid in September for a HDI and an MX-5 though...

Haha, yeah I know mate, that's why I might aswell buy cars while I've still got the chance!
And yeah its not bad I guess......but when I can get over 180bhp and 60mpg I think I know which is better for a poor student Haha!

Unfortunately the car I was px ing it with sold too quick lol!
And no, I'm not keeping the sub and amp from the silver one as its too much weight and hassle and takes up too much space lol. I do aim to get a decent double din headunit eventually though.

Look at it this way mate, would you rather f*ck 30-40 women and find one you wanna stay with, or f*ck one, stick with her and spend the rest of your life wondering?
