After what I appear to have started in the lounge thought I'd best post up a thread of my build...
It all started when I decided that the bike I built 6 years ago was in reality just too small for me now.
Spent plenty of time and money getting the old one how I liked it, but was time to change...
Won off E-bay a Cannondale Trail SL in size XL with a set of forks for £120. Billy bargain.
Picture from the ad;
There were a few bits that I decided I wanted, mainly because they were shiney.
First off, new rotors.
Fronts 203mm, rear 180mm.
New 203mm next to old 160mm;
So I ordered my headset (shineyshiney);
Then the frame turned up, was quite a surprise to see this;
So my new headset wasn't/didn't fit. Bummer.
Adapters for the rotors turned up (more shineyshiney) but they weren't the right ones. Bummer again. Back to old rotors for a bit.
In the meantime I'd ordered my new brakes, Juicy 5's;
Colour scheme becoming obvious yet...?
Truvativ SRAM FireX cranks and bottom bracket and DRM V8's came so got them fitted;
Had to order a new stem because shock horror not many places stock 1.5 inch stems.
£30 later and I've got a stem! :'(
Whack it all together and something's not right... The guy who sent the frame kindly left the bearings out of the bottom of the headset, but left the top ones in. Bummer. Ordered them now so should be here this week!
New front mech (can't remember brand) and new XT rear mech went on shortly after along with a nice new chain.
Got some new Deore rapidfire shifters too.
Some progress pictures from along the way. Just waiting on my bearings now and will be rideable.
Got some more things I'd like/need;
Wheels - white rim, black spokes, red hubs.
New skewers, the current ones are silver hope ones.
New seat - desparately need one, the one that's on is just oen that was lying around.
New seatpost - dropper maybe.
And yes, I do work in a bike place. Helps quite a bit when you can lock yourself away and tweak
