Question, is the Glanza just the Japanese import version of the Starlet turbo? A quick Google doesn't return any results. But yeah, these things do look interesting, but they are too small for my liking!

No they are both Toyotas. Nissan did the Cherry which was also had a turbo version though. Edit: It was actually the Charade which was the turbo, these cars are all so similiar lol.

Good wee cars these, if your looking to go over the 200bhp mark you'll be into changing turbos, fmic, forging etc.
I'd go for a good suspension setup as well, coilovers are a great option but there dear enough for them, some of the lowering springs available for them are to weak and leave it handling badly imo.
Keep it well serviced aswell.

Sorry but they're one of the chavviest cars known to man. Fact is, every owner i've met has tried to have the "people don't believe it's 1.3" and "it eats 106 GTi's for breakfast" conversations with me
Won't deny they go like shit off a shovel but they have me thoroughly "meh"...

I don't know where my life has gone wrong but I agree totally with Ed. They are thoroughly meh. Standard they are GTi fast but without the fun handling good look or being a car you could take your nan out in.
Yes they are quite tunable but only cos its jap scrap so there is loads of bits made for them. IMO there is only one jap hatch of that era thats acceptable to own and thats the Sunny Pulsar GT-R. 2.0 Turbo (200sx engine) 4WD in a gti6 size/weight package. Id own one over a scooby.

Think if you keep sensible boost they can take upto 180 on standard turbo anything over than I've been told by owners club that tdo4 is needed and stock internals of looked after and treated with abit of respect are good for about 230 ish before I need to start spending money on forged parts :-)

Not to bad then, never researched it that much to see exactly how far you could go, good luck with it anyway.
