Aluminium lower engine/gearbox mount
#1
Anyone had any experience with these? My standard one is horrible and was thinking of getting an solid aluminium one, how much of a vibration will it give me? Car is used daily but I do a lot of track days.

i had a massive vibration incrase by changing the lower to a poly bush, so by changing to solid aluminium, i would expect that to be even more

To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half empty. To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be!

yes it will make it pretty unbearable. If your current material one is bad why would you make it even more solid?

It's a standard bush that's worn out, that's what I meant when I said horrible[emoji4]

I replaced mine with a standard one. I did them all at the sametime and the engine feels awesome now. I don't feel it rocking and it feels so much smoother.

It depends what you're willing to put up with, personally i was happy driving my stripped out car daily, other people said it was unbearable. That said, i suspect a solid ally bush would be pretty horrendous, have you looked at stuff like vibratechnics mounts?

No I haven't looked into them yet, I've just seen a cheap alloy one that got me thinking. My car would be described as 'unbearable' by most people already, I don't mind putting up with no interior or sound deadening.

I've a half and half ally/poly on my 406 and it's lovely, no extra vibration noticable bar a slight vibe to the rear mirror when idling:

yeah but its a lovely V6! AdamB had a solid Nylon one on his in the 306 and that was smoother than a BBM bush in a 205 on a 4 pot

What are people's thoughts on that kit? Seems reasonably priced!

I've got a set in the 6, vibration is pretty annoying but not majorly bad I use it daily and don't have any issue with it and I'm not a fan of a fully stripped car

Got a full baker bm kit on the Zx, perfectly tolerable for a daily even with a diesel. Only noticeable on idle.
