Aluminium lower engine/gearbox mount - bilboaustin - 02-11-2016 Anyone had any experience with these? My standard one is horrible and was thinking of getting an solid aluminium one, how much of a vibration will it give me? Car is used daily but I do a lot of track days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: Aluminium lower engine/gearbox mount - insomaniac45 - 02-11-2016 i had a massive vibration incrase by changing the lower to a poly bush, so by changing to solid aluminium, i would expect that to be even more RE: Aluminium lower engine/gearbox mount - Eeyore - 02-11-2016 yes it will make it pretty unbearable. If your current material one is bad why would you make it even more solid? Aluminium lower engine/gearbox mount - bilboaustin - 02-11-2016 It's a standard bush that's worn out, that's what I meant when I said horrible[emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: Aluminium lower engine/gearbox mount - DeeTurbo - 02-11-2016 I replaced mine with a standard one. I did them all at the sametime and the engine feels awesome now. I don't feel it rocking and it feels so much smoother. RE: Aluminium lower engine/gearbox mount - Poodle - 02-11-2016 It depends what you're willing to put up with, personally i was happy driving my stripped out car daily, other people said it was unbearable. That said, i suspect a solid ally bush would be pretty horrendous, have you looked at stuff like vibratechnics mounts? Aluminium lower engine/gearbox mount - bilboaustin - 02-11-2016 No I haven't looked into them yet, I've just seen a cheap alloy one that got me thinking. My car would be described as 'unbearable' by most people already, I don't mind putting up with no interior or sound deadening. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: Aluminium lower engine/gearbox mount - Rippthrough - 02-11-2016 I've a half and half ally/poly on my 406 and it's lovely, no extra vibration noticable bar a slight vibe to the rear mirror when idling: RE: Aluminium lower engine/gearbox mount - welshpug - 02-11-2016 yeah but its a lovely V6! AdamB had a solid Nylon one on his in the 306 and that was smoother than a BBM bush in a 205 on a 4 pot Aluminium lower engine/gearbox mount - bilboaustin - 03-11-2016 http://www.bakerbm.com/306.php?data=engkitn306 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk What are people's thoughts on that kit? Seems reasonably priced! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Aluminium lower engine/gearbox mount - rocker8742 - 03-11-2016 I've got a set in the 6, vibration is pretty annoying but not majorly bad I use it daily and don't have any issue with it and I'm not a fan of a fully stripped car Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: Aluminium lower engine/gearbox mount - Eeyore - 03-11-2016 I've got baker bm items ![]() Aluminium lower engine/gearbox mount - zx_volcane - 05-11-2016 Got a full baker bm kit on the Zx, perfectly tolerable for a daily even with a diesel. Only noticeable on idle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro RE: Aluminium lower engine/gearbox mount - welshpug - 05-11-2016 I have a full set of genuine mounts, brilliant. |
