Laser Torque Angle Gauge

Morning,

Has anyone successfully used one of these or are they all crap?

I don't usually have problems with Laser products!

oh, an angle tightening gauge.

had one in my toolbox for about 13 years.

I just don't see how you'd guess 240 degrees without lol.

But anyway, these Laser ones seem too stiff and juddery to be at all accurate. We ended up loosening the bolts again and essentially using Cully's method.

Just want to know if it's a bad batch or if they're all this bad?

They are quite "stiff"

I have used mine...maybe once. Again had it for maybe 10years

They shouldn't be that stiff, I find it best to do it all in one go, non starting and stopping to move the bar etc. Mine arent laser though.

No I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be that stiff, it sticks and then jumps like 30 degrees at once which obviously isn't accurate lol. I'll return it if possible anyway. We bought another at a different shop and it was exactly the same!

I'd lube it up, also getting a mate to hold it and cou8nt the bolts down as you go makes it much quicker.

Never used one, always worked on the principal that a couple of degrees out wouldn't hurt. If it got complicated I got a protractor out (yes I stio own one)

180 plus a 45 and then half of a 45 and you'd be just over.

Or 2/3 of a turn and you'd be spot on. Imagine it like a clock, start at 12, 180 is 6 then 8 is 240.

if you've got 6 sided bolts to torque tis easy, just mark on a point with tip ex, and everytime a point of the bolt goes past - it is 60 degrees (60+60+60+60 = 240)

I've used the Lazer one on plenty of engines. Yeah it's stiff but easy enough to work with
