Does this look right to you guys or am I missing something?

This is with the wheel off the ground, when it was back down it was even further out

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Also had the bottom of the newish cat fell off

And now the idle is bouncing between 900-1100 revs so figure it's getting some extra air in somewhere

Had a look into the heating issue last night, I've found that the regulator in the pass. Footwell is plugged in, there are no blown fuses and there are no melted/corroded relays. I'm not 100% that the relays are in the correct slots or connected the right way round.

Also had a look at the knocking I've got on the front.
With the wheel off the ground there is quite a lot of left - right play but barely any up - down play.

Is this likely to be a balljoint or something else?

https://vimeo.com/167850968

Looked into the erratic idle but didn't find anything obviously wrong, tried running with the TPS, ICV, MAF and Lambda unplugged at separate times and disconnecting battery between each change with no difference.

Need to get some carb/brake cleaner and spray around to see if there's an air leak.

Also found the radio control stalk and alarm deactivate button tucked around the steering column so put those back in place

Relays don't have to go in the right coloured plug, if your blower works, you have definitely got the relay in the right slot, if you want to know which it is, keep pulling relays and trying the blower until it doesn't come on, it's definitely not the orange or black (heated rear window and indicators), I'm pretty sure its the top brown relay in the green slot. Have you tried starting the engine with it on full cold? Weirdly mine stays cold for about 50% of journeys doing that, not perfect but it's a start lol. I'm at a loss with it now though but won't be looking any further into it so good luck with yours!

Left and right movement I'd check the P bush and track rod end.

Erratic idle is an odd one...I've never had a 306 idle as well as the current GTi6, despite all it's other faults. Can you tell if the throttle body has been off the manifold? If so it's likely the gasket between them was broken. It could also be the resonator under the manifold with a small leak which could eventually look like Mackat's one lol.

Left/right movement could be a failed inner tie rod joint or the O/S rack bush. My HDi has the same issue at the moment and it's one of those two on mine.

That'd be great Matt, was gonna have a look tonight but now will be replacing the throttle cable that snapped this morning lol

I need to spend a bit of time with a multimeter I think so I can see what's what. I'll give it a go starting on cold although in bit sure what that says, maybe the control for the flaps has packed up or they're wedged behind the dash.

As for the erratic idle that will have to wait thanks to this bloody cable

Right were getting there. Should be making a decent amount of progress this week before FCS

Throttle cable is changed

Front knocking is sorted

Floor mats have been washed

Suspensions been checked

Abs sensors and ICV ordered

To do list

Fit ICV and ABS sensors

Fix the constant heat or at least find a work around for it.

Wash polish and wax

I will take some pictures soon lol

Well FCS came and went in a blur, but of a round up from the weekend I suppose

Friday was spent making her shine

Followed by me realising I need to buy a car cover because of all the birds at home

GSF sent me the wrong parts surprise surprise, Cully was kind enough to lend me an ICV temporarily so fitted that Saturday morning and is running sweet again

Had a very smooth drive to combe and spent some decent time on track

Car felt absolutely great while I was out, track tyres and new suspension were working well.

Had a nose around the trade stands and bought some more wheels for the Megane

Car seemed pretty flawless all round really

New wax lasting well after 500miles of abuse and not a single wash still beads well on a filthy car

Well not a lot has happened with this, got some pressed plates and a few other nice bits to fit when I get an afternoon free but other than that she's been driving with no issues

Mot on Saturday flagged up a leaking shock so a nice easy fix for a 12 month ticket - happily surprised

Car looks great! rallye blanks would finish the front of the car off IMO, do love a black GTI6.

Thanks guys, it's nice to have a car back that's reliable and good fun lol

Never been a fan of rallye blanks but I have got something in store for the fogs in future (when I eventually get around to it)

Anyone ever had rear Koni shocks rebuilt? Will be swapping to a spare set for the mot and then Hopefully getting the others rebuilt if I can find somewhere to do it for a decent price

Still trying to find somewhere that I can store her over the winter as I'll be swapping back to a cheap daily again while I put some more effort into sorting it out

Got some pressed plates to fit and looking to change out all the bulbs where possible to LED versions soon

Also looking to update some of the main power and earth wiring as I'm noticing a lot of dimming lights etc at the minute

Since the last update it's had some partner p bushes and power flex bushes, got an upper strut brace but not yet fitted it

Gave it a service yesterday and tracked down the knocking noise I've had start recently

Baker BM top engine mount has split in 2, spoke to them yesterday and they sent me out another one which is a revised design which arrived today, very impressed with the service

Hopefully get some more work on it started soon
