I havnt got an internet connection yet at my barracks. But i want HD.
My gf's barrack had a company called mediaforce come in and install internet into all the rooms, all you have to do is connect the ethernet cable and pay for what speed you want and wether you want 1 hour/1day/1week/1month/1year.
When i get back to my camp ill speak to my SWO and ask if we can get mediaforce in to set up a similiar system, but it could take months and months to sort out and finalise... Also when i get back from afghan i want to get an xbox so i will need a cabled internet source in my room...
I digress...
Basically i want to know the best options for freeview hd or similiar. Ideally id like sky sports and espn too...
Is their a way to "top up" my built in free view?

I'm confused.
I have a TV with built in Freeview HD, it was an extra £20 more than the regular tv which didn't have freeview HD, just freeview.
For that I think there are about 6 HD channels in total.
I know you have to subscribe to get some of the sports channels, but I have never taken an interest.
Sorry, I wasn't much help was I?!

Is there any point? Honestly we have Freesat HD (like freeview but through an old sky dish) and I can't see the difference on our 42" (I think) TV between HD or regular lol.

Tom, if you can't tell the difference between SD and HD you must be blind! Or you're still watching the SD channels

Sean, you'd probably be cheapest, getting a freeview HD box.. probably cost you around £100 but for that i'd expect a HDD that you can record onto too
Yup, 1080p on my 42" panasonic plasma is epic
And agree with you there niall, 3D HD is epic.. gives you so much more depth!

Yeah but are you actually watching them on a hd TV set up properly? You can watch hd channels through scart on most of these free view boxes but it won't be hd.

Do your parents/her parents or her have sky with sports and stuff?
If so then you can use their Sky Go account to get those channels over t'internet for free, from the Sky website.
Sky Go is free for every sky subscriber.

You need glasses, Tom...
Also 3D is complete bollocks IMHO...
You either need glasses and you look like f*cking Ray Charles watching the TV - AKA. A KNOB...
Or the glassesless ones which we have a bunch of at work, and all they successfully do to everyone who watches them... Give them a headache...
We DON'T need 3D, it's a fad technology... Stick to making 2D better...
I mean for gods sakes, people still haven't seem to have picked up on Progressive scan vs Interlaced scan yet, we have BARELY gotten Freeview HD rolled out, people don't even know what HD Ready means, they assume component cables = HDz...

Correct it is a fad but a pretty cool one. Personally though I would rather see HD expanded a lot more before they concentrate on 3d. Mind you, I can barely watch tv at the moment due to my v+ box being fooked. Should get virgin out to look at that really lol

I don't get on with 3d anyhow, it looks worse in most situations and isn't really effective save for a couple of scenes in a movie. I tried playing Call of Duty Black Ops in 3D once, properly difficult. Looked good, but virtually impossible to play!

Every sky customer has sky go, if you grandad isn't tech savvy he probs doesn't have a sky.com account, so you can set one up for him and use it.
With Sky Go you can use one tablet/phone and one computer with each sky account.
