LSD and boost control
#1
Done some searching and a lot of reading but nothing quite hit the spot...

is there a LSD for the xud/hdi box...? obviously aftermarket.

Also, what is the best boost controller out there...dont fancy buying a cheap one on fleebay...but there dont seem any good quality ones out there.

Also, which type is better??...

First one for the MBC mate, its a ball and spring type that doesn't vent to atmosphere. The bleed type valves make the wastegate less efficient and make the turbo work harder to maintain boost pressure with what is effectively a boost leak

Pretty sure you can get LSD's for our boxes. Look at JP's project thread because I think he fitted the one to his gti that he origionally bought for his dt

I had two of those ball bearing type, and im almost certain either they're broke or they vent to atmosphere as standard - i can hear them pssssshing out that little pin hole they have.

The pin hole's supposed to be a pressure relief valve to allow the ball to reseat again when boost drops.

In light of having no working wastegate i'm using mine as a 45psi block to stop the wastegate opening for now lmao

You can use any of the LSD's that work on the 6 boxes with our boxes.

thanks ya'll

for the MBC can I position it a few more inches away from turbo than the actuator, as in to hand when you lift the lid....that wont affect it?

interesting on the '6 lsd...shame they didnt do a LSD in the rallye

he means that any aftermarket lsd for the GTi 6 will fit in a DT box, not that pug put an LSD in the '6 as standard...

yeah yeah I know...as in good that a LSD for a '6...which one can buy...fits a dtub, which one cannot buy.

I meant the rallye SHOULD have had one...

well, if it fits a '6, it'll fit a rallye obv, just generally the case that stuff gets marketed for the '6 as it's the more common car. but yeah, i get your point, seeing as it's the rallye, and it's meant to the 'sportiest', then an lsd would have been nice

what about the MCB...does it make a difference to run piping away from turbo?

in theory, yes, cuz it'll delay the reaction time of the waste gate or something, but you'd never notice a difference

It'll spike boost more the further you put it away... I.e. say its sat at 24psi, it'll jump to 28psi as soon as you get on the throttle then fall back to 24psi... Not the best for the turbo...

these LSDs are mega bucks man...looking 550+....the BE3 box though appears to be used in the 205 rally cars a lot...so doing some digging with old contacts to see if I can bag me one from that way...

If you can get hold of two cheaply would be better. Since I would like one too.

lol mark the 205 rally ones used ZF ones which need different shafts as i said in my earlier post. best thing to do is keep an ear to the ground for a second hand quaife

That's what I meant. Can't be bothered with changing the shafts.

you would have to change shafts if he sourced one from a 205 rally..............

as they are ZF ones. Not a straight swap by a long way........

I know I meant if he could find a few tran x or quaife ones.
