pre-heat led random
#1
Sad
Hello all! Awesome forum, hope to get along and around

Where can I find the temperature sensor which triggers glowplug pre-heat?

For me it acts random even at same ambient/engine temperatures! I.e., quite often pre-heat indicator does not light up in winter and does lit up in summer at times.

Cheers!

the glow plug relay is behind battery i think that controls most things

Cheers Kwik,

Just checked with multimeter: glow plugs are always heated for 15-20 seconds, the pre-heat lamp does not turn on on instrument panel.
If it ever turns on, stays for just a couple of seconds - irregular. I tested the lamp wire from the glow-plug relay box, and it is dead from there.

But the glowplugs apparently are heated regardless.

So the solution is on a cold day keep ignition on for 20seconds and repeat several times.

Wonder if replacing relay box would solve instrument panel LED behaviour..

Cheers,

get another one from breakers and switch it over see if that does the trick

The light only ever stays on for a few seconds, but if you wait you will hear a click after another 13 seconds or so when they actually turn off, also the dash lights will get brighter when they go off.
