Right picked up a hdi for cheaps yesterday as it was advertised as running but cutting out.
When I got there the car wouldnt start, as I'd traveled 120 miles for it with a trailer I bought it anyway, as its worth more in parts than paid.
Had a quick go over it today.
There is no power to the lift pump (the pumps fine though) and the fuel gauge doesnt work. The only power at the lift pump is the small gray wire presumably for the fuel gauge power.
I've powered the pump remotely and it still doesnt start.
Items changed
About 10 fuses replaced/put back, All other fuses checked
Brown relay behind the battery.
Tested the ECU off my car.
Fuel cut off thing with the red top.
Need to test the green relays behind the battery also, but cant see these being faulty.
Anyone got any ideas?

What's going down with the immobiliser? Does it crank and not catch?

If its moonstone and had a recent clutch change... Don't bother! Haha. :p
Have you tried immobiliser? But I suppose that wouldn't explain why it was cutting out. Sound defferntly fuel related. Get someone to prime it on the key and listen out for air leakage.
Check injectors for fuel and power. Check filter housing pipes if they're getting fuel through as we'll when priming.

Cam or crank sensors? How does the fuel pressure look?
