Well I'm happy! Rad turned up sooner than expected and today was my day off so just fitted and bled it in a thunderstorm (like a boss), it's now sitting happily at 80, heaters are working fine and it seems (touch wood) that the head gasket is ok...

So I've took a huge leap of faith and cancelled the hire car, come Saturday I'm doing 1000 miles in 6 days in it

Right, I'm back after spending the last few days doing 1000 miles in this old thing going to Cornwall. Not a single problem, 56mpg average, lugging all our stuff, and it was a good laugh on the Cornish back roads (although not as much fun as Joe's '6)...
