So let me get this straight...

you want to spend £4k+ on the conversion

and £1k+ on a full respray?!

then all the other bits and bobs needed for the conversion so your looking for about £6000 for the whole thing?!

its 2500 for the conversion and all I know this is wot he is doin and yeah respray usually basic colour change starts at 3k for all door shuts engine bay so yeah 6k plus. I don't get wot ur gettin at

your spending lots and lots of money on just a 306....the whole idea of a 306 is that its a cheap car thats good to drive.

why not save that money and get somthing much quicker and wont be a ton of hastle.

for 6k you can get some much more car for your money!

yeah I could but thts not wot im like. I'll buy a car 6k and will look like everyother car I cnt have tht I enjoy ha in something different unique so then id have to do the same so now thts 12k. I get cheap cars and plough money to make something special ppl look and compliment. Thts wot im about unique love to be different

Just need to decide on my colour of car then in for engine. IV held engine conversion till I no the colour then as the engine gets taken out the bay can b sprayed.im wantin it finished by end of November my b'day present 2 myself.

If I were you I'd turbo the 1.4, I'd rather spend big money on something that the police won't bat an eyelid at, but will make you're average Impreza driver/council house hero think "what the holy shit was that!?"

Just my opinion, but I've got pretty much a full turbo kit waiting to go on, for less than £300, just because I took my time and sourced the parts myself...

Yeah I am but never been pulled in any cars and all the anpr cameras in there cars only check tax mot insurance and owner.they only get more detail radioin through I have only ever get tugged by vosa in my lorry.

It dnt matter bout police I dnt care if they no bout my engine.if they kept pullin me id do them for harrassment.its my car I'll do as I plz.

Wot I Neva said im havin no insurance iv got motor trader collector insurance as always gettin other cars run in them and gettin rid. 6k on a engine where U get tht from 2.5 and spray job the rest. I would Neva drive arnd with no insurance and not tell on mods as insurance void iv been victim of uninsured drivers. If I was y would I post about it hi I want to join ur club im not insured so at ur meets dnt let me follow U as if I hit U sry no insurance. Come on im not tht stupid if I was id expect U to fone police at meets.

IV had 3 Vauxhall v6 2 Neva let me down apart from oil cooler bit replace with stainless job done.

just compared both cars look at stats on line Vauxhall 2.5 170bhp weight 1370 0-60 7.2 150mph. Peugeot 3.0 210bhp weight 1289 0-60 7.5 149mph. The 406 more hp lighter but slower. Definitely makin right choice as thts without 3.0 cams

There are 2 diferent 406 v6 engines there is a 200bhp and a 210bhp the 210 is multiplex wireing tho so needs a stand alone ecu Smile

And are those the specs for engine alone as one car may weigh more than the other hence dif 0 to 60 times Wink

The 210 version is actually a little quicker than that I'd say. No doubt another example of Peugeot testing their cars with luggage and passengers to reduce the 0-60 on paper and help reduce insurance. Also the weight of the cars doesn't mean that much, what you should be comparing is the engine weight if it's going in a 306. The 406 V6 engine goes nicely in a 306 with only a little fabrication of mounts, and not only that but it's not so much heavier that it changes the geometry of the car too much. Let's be honest, the main thing these have going for theme is handling, so if the Vauxhall engine is much heavier, why ruin the main characteristic of a 306 and be much more out of pocket for the privilege.

It's your money at the end of the day, but there are a lot better ways to spend is that just paying someone to put a Vauxhall or Ford engine in the car because that's all he knows.

Peugeot test the 0-60 on their vehicles with a tank of fuel, 2 people in and luggage in the boot, a comparable time to the Vauxhall would be the 6.9s recorded with just the driver and half a tank of fuel.

Ignore the weights mate. There kerb weights.
Peugeot always tested their cars with a full tank of petrol and passengers to slow it down so they got lower insurance groups. Citroen on the other hand did it on fumes with a driver like tom306......well not like Tom 306 because otherwise the 0-60 would be about 5 minutes but the v6 average mpg would be about 65mpg!

406 v6! Get it done! Mate had one onion his 306 and that thing fooking flew! Took many people by surprise. It would light the tyres in 3rd for Lols.

Hakey speaking from experience of doing silly things with cars in the hopes of getting big power or quick 0-60's and without spending £2,000+ on a V6 conversion which I will tell you now anything that is a V format do not like to be run just down to the shop they don't heat up quick enough and it ends up in catastrophic engine failure and cracks from stress...you need to be able to run it for at least 10 minutes to get it up to a decent temp before putting any kind of stress on it so if your shop is 5 minutes away but pissing down with rain you need to walk or expect to wait 10 minutes before driving it.

Plus you have a conversion therefore your car is modified bigtime...so expect to pay at least double the cost of conversion for insurance depending on your age...I once had a Rover 416 and my insurance was £1,500 TPFT I then told the insurance company I was thinking of fitting an exhaust and also a remapped ECU they gave me a revised quote of £5,120 so expect something similar.

Do yourself a favour mate get yourself a damn decent Phase 3 D Turbo, they're just as much fun as the petrol's do have a fair bit of poke as standard and with very little money you could be running at 130+ bhp as some of the others have...

Plus there's nothing more annoying to the twat you've just overtook than a face full of soot from the car that's just decimated you!!!

So just imagine the flaky Vauxhall engine changes the characteristics of your car you're going out of Lincoln on all them twisties and you overcook it and wipe out old Mrs Smith's garden wall and her neighbours car. Honestly be sensible. Either convert to something you can afford such as a D Turbo or wait until you have sufficient funds to be able to insure the said car.

Well 1st of all if U go up and read some more ull c I declare everything I have a trader insurance it covers me under my policy modified imports 25% of my vehicles.i do no bout police stations. I declare everything on cars even new head unit I drive class 1 for a living I wouldn't risk my lively hood. I have 3 kids to feed. Also U dnt no me and tellin me to get something I can afford wot is tht bout? I'll do this conversion thanx I would never use tht sort of car to pop down shop I dnt no much bout buildin a car but drivin is wot I do

Need to lighten up mate, he's just having a joke, not laughing at you.

People aren't telling you what to do. It's your money, do what you like with it. They're just trying to help by letting you know in advance that it may not be the best decision or best way to go about it when you can get much more for your money elsewhere. As I said before, don't limit yourself just to Vauxhall or Ford engines just because your local mechanic says that's all he works with.
