Project idea...
#31
No i actually mean using the 3dr as the main vehicle, as atleast tools keep as much strength in the body as possible and don't have to worry about chopping and welding b pillars

Here is what I'm thinking of doing
[Image: 27bbf57a.jpg]

Keeps the strength of the whole car as much as possible this way. Just weld in a bit behind the pillars... Easiest way of doing it and probably makes things a hell of a lot easier...

And the project thread of it if anyone wants a gander...

That's barely any extra room at all though, still think you'd be uber-cramped.

Will be epic however you do it though tbf. The idea's been floating around for ages, about time somebody manned up and actually did it!

But if you cut behind the b pillar of a 5dr 306, there will be f*ck all leg room, but with a 3dr I think you could get away with that

So you've given up on the estate idea then? It'd work on a 5door, and would be pretty cool, but the bed would be fairly small, and as you've seen, it's been done with other cars already, estate would be pretty original!

3dr front end, estate rear end. A 5dr front is wayyyy to short.

Only problem I could see is that what weight you've lost with chopping the roof off you're gunna get a fair bit back using the metal to reinforce the structure which you will need as otherwise it'll just be like driving a giant metal jelly although you could do a sort of structure that welds in to each corner sort of like a cross shape and then brace it through the middle stick some dynamat or something between the cross sections to keep the noise down a bit and add a bit more bulk and then false floor it...could be viable and fun!

I think the only viable way of building it and it being practical is estate shell with 3dr sides.

No not at all niall, using a 3dr and extending the boot/flatbed is far more easier than using an estate and cutting/moving the b pillars

Shouldn't be difficult to fit the 3dr sides. The whole panel comes off and welds directly in as we saw when theat guy did the 3 door sedan. You would just need to cut a bit of it off for the bed.
