Clutch :(
#1
As some of you know, I took the 205 on the dyno and the clutch got raped. It was fine before but now it slipped it 3rd on blow. So definatly a new clutch time.
Just after some opinions on what to get now as I'm torn between a paddle or a good old valeo. I'm not really hunting for more power as it does go as it is (doesn't mean I won't ninja ). I'm pretty skint ATM so won't be able to get anything fancy.

The other thing is the box. After the journey up to FCS i've realised it's stupidly short at cruising speeds. I have a 306 DT box sat in the garage so don't know whether to chuck that on a get a HDi box.

What do you lot think anyway?.

No HDi boxes IMO, DT is the longest I'd go, HDis mean you end up off boost every gear change...

Imo id put a DT box on it with one of the cheaper CG paddle clutchs... Unless you WANT good economy and prepared to sacrafice some "fun" then go with the hdi box...but DT box is good enough on long runs, and a better box in general..

The CG clutch is a cheap clutch, and in some respects it shows, but ive had mine on my last two engines, and given it left foot HELL, and its still going...and never slips...so worth it imo...

The CG unsprung paddle and pressure plate is £200 delivered I believe.

The plate by itself is ~£140 delivered.

max go for a dt box mate, with 1.9 gti driveshafts accompanied with the 306 inner cup should work a treat although you might have to change the hubs aswell

Dan can the original 205 DT shafts fit in the box?

Cheers Ash.
I'm now abit stuck on what set-up to go for for the 205, because the 205 is originally a push type where as the 306 is a pull. Or is it the otherway round? Blush

Either was is it possible to just put the whle box on the 205 with the 306 clutch for ect?

Just use the 306 setup fella, altho all the 205's ive had apart are that anyway...either way id just use a 306 tranny / clutch fork etc...

If you email the guy at CG they pretty much instantly half the price, the web listing price is double what I ended up paying...

The pressure plate it comes with is just a stock AP one also, but unless you have another brand new one, buy it anyway.

Like i said, Mine is pretty destroyed, but I had no money so had to put it back on, but half the friction plate is on the flywheel / pressure plate, still working ok for now though!

They do judder pretty bad though without springs.

Max, I do wonder if infact your gearbox isn't a 1.9DT one, whether actually it is a 1.9GTi box, it'd make more sense like that - it could have been replaced before, as I've heard that the XUD7 box is identical to the XUD9 box?

Hmm...

Ruan that would explain the high revs. And a spare plug lying round.

Just rang C.G clutch's and the best they can do is £230 for a 3-piece kit rated to 200bhp. I mentioned that a friend payed alot less and he said he very much doubts that Dodgy

The 205 DT I had was like Max's...
Revs silly high on the motorway. Much shorter than a 306 one...

Been looking at the money situation and might just have to get a Valeo one. I can get one for £96 at the local car place.
