sod it. im gonna get a dturbo. problem is i know feck all really about them. my puney 1.6 is out of tax and mot is due and i reckon its gonna be £200/£300 to get it through.
so, ive been looking at what i could get for about £300/£400 in the way of a derv.
would love a p3 china to swop all my bits over but to expensive so im thinking ph1.
now what i want to know is were all p1's fitted with bocsh pumps?
my plans are to run it on veg and save even more money.

you wont be able to get a ph3 china dturbo, unless your on about an hdi
gunna break your 1.6? i rekon you could get a nice chunk from that
not all ph1 had bosch pumps, jus the earlier of them

phil, yeah i know its got to be a hdi on a p3 but can you still fit them with a bocsh?
looking for cheap boost basicly.
i will be keepin my 1.6 by the way. plans are to save dosh whilst running the derv then drop a 6 engine in my p3.

A hdi is very different to an xud.....you won't get a Bosch on a hdi......hdi can be remapped instead of pump tweaked though.

Basically, a hdi will be ph3, can be quickly mapped fairly cheap, and will do more mpg.....but costs more to buy.
An xud costs much less to buy, takes some skill to be 'tweaked' but I'm sure someone could do.it for you if you weren't confident, obviously that's free if you do yourself though.....can be bosched and will do less mpg but can be run on Veg oil.....
So yeah, depends what you want really, I'd go for a hdi myself but you might prefer an xud.

as for toms mpg figures its not much difference tbh, around 5mpg

so what price would i be looking for for a stage 1 and what bhp would i be looking at over standered?
from what ive read if i went for a stange 2 i would have to do alot more work ie cluch. and again, on a stage 2 what gains would i be looking at?

stage 2 will involve a fmic and supporting mods and can see up to 150 bhp on a dturbo and around 160 on a hdi with good support
price wise the hdi will cost around £150 for maps (dpending where you get it could be as little as £30)
and stage 2 can cost a few hundred quid on fmic pipes as well as a few hundred on a new clutch as they wont hold it all
the dturbo can stage one for free if you read up and a stage 2 can be as little as just a fmic as the clutch is so strong on these
but a dturbo wins in my eyes

Pro Steve and whippy do maps around £60 mark. Stage 1 is around 130bhp bit more with egr and decat.
Stage 2 needs clutch and fmic. Which has gains to 160bhp and 270lbs torque. Or you can have restricted torque. And not need a clutch. That's for hdi iirc. Someone mistake me if I'm wrong.
I'll be taking mine to maxing stage 2 restricted torque. If clutch ever goes I may go full whack.

And I take it these maps can be emailed to you and with a galletto easily remap a hdi yourself, like I did with the golf...

Yeah I think when I asked Steve he said 2 hours for him to do it.
I rang a tuning company that did my dads galaxy he said he could only get 115bhp out if it for £200.
But I'm not 100% on these figures. I havnt even mapped mine yet haha. But ive read loads about them.  mines due a service so will be stage 1 as well.

I agree with tom. D turbo may run veg but unless you can buy it cheap from wholesales I don't think it's worth it as its like 3-4 for 2-3 litres. My hdi round town is kicking out about 40-43mpg with mix driving (can't remember the exact figures as it was on fuelly). And they say with stage 1 it also adds 2-3 more miles.
And with hdi mate you can still keep china.

Oh fetched some for mrs and it was nearly £4 for 3 litres :o. I'd get mine from takeaway I used to work at. He gets 20 litres for £17  shame I ain't got d turbo though lol.

Another vote for XUD. keep it simple with Bosch and T2 and get some decent power, or go mad with big turbo etc. and get some mega boost!
