help with buying a tdubby - kingy - 02-06-2012 sod it. im gonna get a dturbo. problem is i know feck all really about them. my puney 1.6 is out of tax and mot is due and i reckon its gonna be £200/£300 to get it through. so, ive been looking at what i could get for about £300/£400 in the way of a derv. would love a p3 china to swop all my bits over but to expensive so im thinking ph1. now what i want to know is were all p1's fitted with bocsh pumps? my plans are to run it on veg and save even more money. Re: help with buying a tdubby - 4WayDiablo - 02-06-2012 you wont be able to get a ph3 china dturbo, unless your on about an hdi gunna break your 1.6? i rekon you could get a nice chunk from that not all ph1 had bosch pumps, jus the earlier of them Re: help with buying a tdubby - ash23 - 02-06-2012 there are a few chinas out there for good money this one seams good although it dosnt say waht pump its got http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-306-D ... 257130b3fe Re: help with buying a tdubby - 4WayDiablo - 02-06-2012 ash23 Wrote:there are a few chinas out there for good money this one seams good although it dosnt say waht pump its gotwell thats been modified, on a p reg that should be a ph1/ph2 crossover year not a ph3 odd Re: help with buying a tdubby - kingy - 02-06-2012 yeah ash, seen that one. not massively impressed tbh. phil, yeah i know its got to be a hdi on a p3 but can you still fit them with a bocsh? looking for cheap boost basicly. i will be keepin my 1.6 by the way. plans are to save dosh whilst running the derv then drop a 6 engine in my p3. Re: help with buying a tdubby - Toms306 - 02-06-2012 A hdi is very different to an xud.....you won't get a Bosch on a hdi......hdi can be remapped instead of pump tweaked though. ![]() Re: help with buying a tdubby - kingy - 02-06-2012 got ya. so its one or the other. shite, now witch way do i go? Re: help with buying a tdubby - 4WayDiablo - 02-06-2012 kingy Wrote:got ya. so its one or the other.on a budget go xud, cheaper to tune and cheaper to run (veg on a bosch) Re: help with buying a tdubby - Toms306 - 02-06-2012 Basically, a hdi will be ph3, can be quickly mapped fairly cheap, and will do more mpg.....but costs more to buy. An xud costs much less to buy, takes some skill to be 'tweaked' but I'm sure someone could do.it for you if you weren't confident, obviously that's free if you do yourself though.....can be bosched and will do less mpg but can be run on Veg oil..... So yeah, depends what you want really, I'd go for a hdi myself but you might prefer an xud. ![]() Re: help with buying a tdubby - 4WayDiablo - 02-06-2012 as for toms mpg figures its not much difference tbh, around 5mpg Re: help with buying a tdubby - kingy - 02-06-2012 so what price would i be looking for for a stage 1 and what bhp would i be looking at over standered? from what ive read if i went for a stange 2 i would have to do alot more work ie cluch. and again, on a stage 2 what gains would i be looking at? Re: help with buying a tdubby - 4WayDiablo - 02-06-2012 kingy Wrote:so what price would i be looking for for a stage 1 and what bhp would i be looking at over standered?well you should see from 90bhp to around 125bhp depending on setup for a stage 1 on a dturbo, around 135 on a hdi stage 2 will involve a fmic and supporting mods and can see up to 150 bhp on a dturbo and around 160 on a hdi with good support price wise the hdi will cost around £150 for maps (dpending where you get it could be as little as £30) and stage 2 can cost a few hundred quid on fmic pipes as well as a few hundred on a new clutch as they wont hold it all the dturbo can stage one for free if you read up and a stage 2 can be as little as just a fmic as the clutch is so strong on these but a dturbo wins in my eyes Re: help with buying a tdubby - Toms306 - 02-06-2012 150 quid for a map? Cheaper to map the golf! ![]() Re: help with buying a tdubby - 4WayDiablo - 02-06-2012 Toms306 Wrote:150 quid for a map? Cheaper to map the golf! That's what I remember from the mappers may very well be cheaper Or you can get a copy from a member already My Mate got a stage 1 remap map and booted it to his car for 30 quid Re: help with buying a tdubby - Toms306 - 02-06-2012 Ah right ok. ![]() help with buying a tdubby - kentiiboii - 02-06-2012 Pro Steve and whippy do maps around £60 mark. Stage 1 is around 130bhp bit more with egr and decat. Stage 2 needs clutch and fmic. Which has gains to 160bhp and 270lbs torque. Or you can have restricted torque. And not need a clutch. That's for hdi iirc. Someone mistake me if I'm wrong. I'll be taking mine to maxing stage 2 restricted torque. If clutch ever goes I may go full whack. Re: help with buying a tdubby - 4WayDiablo - 02-06-2012 Fair enough Kent, shows how long its been haha, the maps used to be around 150 when I last saw a long time ago Re: help with buying a tdubby - Toms306 - 02-06-2012 And I take it these maps can be emailed to you and with a galletto easily remap a hdi yourself, like I did with the golf... ![]() Re: help with buying a tdubby - Louis123 - 02-06-2012 Save up for a hdi mate ![]() Re: help with buying a tdubby - 4WayDiablo - 02-06-2012 Toms306 Wrote:And I take it these maps can be emailed to you and with a galletto easily remap a hdi yourself, like I did with the golf...Indeed or the preferred hardware is kwp2000+ help with buying a tdubby - kentiiboii - 02-06-2012 Yeah I think when I asked Steve he said 2 hours for him to do it. I rang a tuning company that did my dads galaxy he said he could only get 115bhp out if it for £200. But I'm not 100% on these figures. I havnt even mapped mine yet haha. But ive read loads about them. ![]() help with buying a tdubby - kentiiboii - 02-06-2012 I agree with tom. D turbo may run veg but unless you can buy it cheap from wholesales I don't think it's worth it as its like 3-4 for 2-3 litres. My hdi round town is kicking out about 40-43mpg with mix driving (can't remember the exact figures as it was on fuelly). And they say with stage 1 it also adds 2-3 more miles. And with hdi mate you can still keep china. Re: help with buying a tdubby - 4WayDiablo - 02-06-2012 Tesco sells it at £1 per litre which is better than paying 1.40+ at the pumps help with buying a tdubby - kentiiboii - 02-06-2012 Oh fetched some for mrs and it was nearly £4 for 3 litres :o. I'd get mine from takeaway I used to work at. He gets 20 litres for £17 ![]() help with buying a tdubby - TheGateKeeper - 02-06-2012 Dturbo ![]() help with buying a tdubby - kentiiboii - 02-06-2012 Dturbo....... Better? ![]() Re: help with buying a tdubby - Ricky - 02-06-2012 Another vote for XUD. keep it simple with Bosch and T2 and get some decent power, or go mad with big turbo etc. and get some mega boost! Re: help with buying a tdubby - Ben Jay - 03-06-2012 Veg from Costco is 17.99 for 20 litres. That = 89.9p/litre! D turbo = more win!
