what does this mean for the xud9a and especially xud9te re visible smoke?

Not much...you're still allowed up to 3.0 for TD and 2.5 NA on the smoke test.

The new regs affect modern cars with DPFs really. Yesterday I was allowed 1.5 on my Focus, now it's only 0.55!

The changes are only applicable to cars with a dpf, something that came in a good 6 years after the 306 ceased production.

Essentially the same rules... bar the dpf smoke thing (load of rubbish as brand new dervs with dpfs can/do smoke) and reverse lights.
Just scaremongers imho.

Nope, it just has a cat. People weren't bothered by particulates back then, CO was the enemy!

DPFs started to be fitted as standard in around 2004 for road cars. But weren't mandatory until Euro 5 emmisions in 2009.
