Sad
Hi Guys,

I have a stubby aerial on my HDI which doesn't fit very well (the screw isn't really long enough) and I have no radio reception!  It looks a bit like this one - stubby aerial

I also have an aftermarket Pioneer headunit.  I've been reading a few threads that say aftermarket head units will cause poor radio reception but I can't tune to any channels whatsoever - all I get is static.

I bought this Whip Antennae Mast aerial which said it worked on a 306 but the screw was too narrow to fit.

I've since seen a few aerials on ebay:

This is supposedly a Genuine Aerial Mast  but it's quite long and I'd prefer something shorter as I might end up fitting roof bars.

I also messaged this seller about this advertised as a Genuine Sports Style Aerial and was told this is a standard fit on all 306 models after 1/12/1997.

Does anyone have any experience of which aerial will fit and provide decent reception or is there something more complex I need to do given the aftermarket HU?

Cheers!

Phase 1 long aerial is the easiest way to go. When you have you roof bars just push it down.

that ribbed one is the proper one. The longer the better though i reckon. Either will go under the roof bars no issue.

Hi Party,

I know its been a month since your post but just to say I own / have purchased these:

Genuine Aerial Base
&
Genuine Aerial Mast That you linked.

These work totally fine with my Phase 3 306 and radio reception is absolutely fine. It's long, sure. You won't be forgetting to remove it prior to going in a car wash though. Worrying about the roof bars really isn't an issue. You can just adjust the aerial base so that the long aerial feeds underneath.

I found a picture of my car with the aerial and roof bars on, from google maps. Lol. Hope this helps.

Thanks for remembering Nexus, I foolishly opted for the shorter ph3 aerial and it fits much better than the stubby one I had but it's not much of an improvement with regards to reception.

On another thread DeeTurbo was buying an LM317 device from ebay to connect to an aerial booster so I'll wait and see how that pans out.

Cool, keep me posted. I've just rewired my door loom and stereo and it's whet my appetite for more electrical work!
