HDi clutch change
#1
Hi, I bought a HDi last November with a Stage 2 remap. The clutch started slipping so when I took it for a new clutch it appears one of the previous owners at some point had changed it to a pull clutch which I understand is from a Dturbo or GTi-6 model.

So I purchased the Larkspeed Stage 2 clutch but have been having real problems ever since, it judders really badly in first gear or reverse. The clutch pedal is sticky and also is really difficult to get into gear sometimes.

Im at a loss as to what to do next? Possibly change the flywheel? If so are GTi-6 flywheels different to the other models or are they the same across all models?

Or bite the bullet and change everything back to HDi spec? Although someone told me I'd need to change the gearbox if I did that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Sounds like its just the clutch giving you hassle. If its just a stage two you MAY get away with a standard xud clutch. A standard hdi clutch wont hold though dont go back to that lol.

That was £200 well spent on a larkspeed clutch then lol.

Is the xud clutch the same as the GTi-6 clutch?

The flywheels are different. You should be ok with just a standard xud/Gti6 clutch on a stage 2. Plus it will be nicer to drive.

Great thanks.
So Gti-6 flywheel with xud/Gti6 clutch.

Also are the clutch forks the same for dturbo/xud/Gti6?

Sorry for the confusion

Does it have an auto-adjusting cable? Could well be the performance clutch has a higher clamping force which the cable won't adjust to properly, or just that the auto-adjuster has given up the ghost entirely. Sometimes you can get the cable to adjust briefly by stamping on the clutch pedal a few times and side-stepping off it so it bounces back up. If that fixes it get a new cable anyway as it'll only be a matter of time before it happens again.

Yes I believe it's an auto adjusting cable
