the s16 elsewhere is usually a different engine i believe, over here it's 2.0 and makes about 150 bhp Smile
Phase 1 D-Turdo, K14@24 psi, De-cat, meaty backbox, Bosch pump, grinded LDA pin, duel air fed K&N =133.7bhp & 188ft/lbs

In a way yes, but the s16 was released in this country as a s16.

For example the 206 gti 180 was called the rc in other countries

155 was quite conservative, a good one with well set cam timing will be closer to 160.

the 1.9 in the 405 was listed as 160 bhp with the same head and close csm profile.

S16 is both acav (150/155hp) and 167hp in France, I think they've only fitted the acav block in the ph1 over there. The saying goes that they weren't allowed to use Gti in France as VW had exclusive rights to use the Gti name, not quite sure if it's true or not

Anyone know what GTi actually stands for? Or the S in S16? (Presumably the 16 is valves?) Was wondering about it this morning oddly!

On topic though, no reg plate, no distinctive mods and no oc sticker...is it actually someone on here lol?

Grand Tourer Injection
(gran turismo)
The "6" reffered to 6 speed obviously.
S16 is "sportif" and 16 valve

And yes...its someone on here who owns it

Hmm, but it isn't a 'GT' car like an American cruiser, I assumed GTi stood for something else with VW's and Peugeot's 'sports' cars, not really tourers surely?

Sportif makes sense though. Smile

iirc s is soupapes 16, i.e 16v.

citroen went for a straight 16v badge.

gt i means grand tourisme injection

I knew the American stuff was a Grand Tourer... Just cant see why you'd be doing a grand tour around Europe in something that's shit on fuel, too small for luggage, manually geared for thrashing over cruising and pretty uncomfortable... lol (That goes for the Golf or the 205!)

For enough though, I'll take your word for it!

S16 has just got slightly less cool if the S just stands for valves though. lol

Ah, there's another I didn't know! Believe it or not we were taught about Motronic at college in a fair amount of detail, I've never seen it on anything in the flesh! lol

If you're buying women's underwear for yourself you can tell us and we won't judge you Matt. I know some of that stuff can get really expensive...

I'm sure you had one that you bought for about 300 quid or something a while back that you were waiting to do something with. I'm guessing you got rid?

Ahh okay. I'd like to own one someday, but the list of cars like that is longer than my arm.
