Awesome work.

So how do you go about getting new bearings and bits for it, do you order from the manufacturer or are they built using sorta standard sized parts you can order for an engineering supplies place??

Haha not just for you, need to get a baseline on the 505 before we strap turbo on to blow up the stock motor!! But did also have you in mind Smile

Heh, I have thought about organising a meet up down here before, trouble is Cornwall is miles out the way for 90% of people, so not ideal, but maybe do a SQ 306oc meet up / dyno fun day or something....free tuning opportunity etc!

Depends on what it is really, but bearings and seals on this have been much easier to get hold of, all fairly standard metric sizes, so have found everything online in decent skf brands etc, which has made life alot easier!

Long overdue update here, been all sorts going on, but dyno has been shaping up to!

Next step was to get the rest of the eddy brake back together, which meant new bearings / seals for the center drive hub, and re wiring the coils etc.

So with the core removed the retarder looked much like this:

And then stripped it down...as you can see this has been dry / no oil in here for some time!

So ordered up some new bearings and lip seals, all sizes were metric, so nice and easy to source, which made a nice change!

Got them mounted up on shaft..

And back in the center:

Cleaning up the very crudded / blocked vent tube!

And got it back in the retarder, leaving me with a fully assembled driveline ready for rotors etc and rewiring!

I decided to make some new floor anchors this time rather than attaching to the dyno frame, so have sunk two in the front and two behind the front wheels, to allow 4 straps rather than 2 at front, meaning a strap can fail and no disaster! Over the top, yes maybe, but better safe than sorry!

Weld up some hook anchor points...

Made some holes....

And job jobbed:

Also got the new load cell fitted and calibrated:

And made up a mount / fitted the roller speed sensor, normal Hall type sensor:

Also made up some ramps, although have hopefully got hold of some better, much wider / sturdier ones for the long run, but this will do until I get them back here, Thanks to James / Ruan etc who were down helping out this day!

Next little job now things were getting together and looking nearly finished was to make a cover for the retarder end of the dyno, sadly we never got the original, not sure what happened to it but the guy I picked it up from never had it either, so decided to just make one up from scratch.

So started by boring a hole out the pit for all the cables to tidy things up:

And then cut up some lengths of angle to form the outer frame / lip that will sit down in the dyno frame, idea being this cover will simply lift off for servicing etc.

Welded that up to form frame:

Promptly realised I had made epic fail with measurements (measure ID not OD of the hole!!) so had to weld in extensions on all four sides, so did that and then ground all the welds flat so sheet steel would fit flush:

Sits like so:

Welded some inch box in to strengthen it so you can walk on it without bending the sheet steel (not that we walk on it on purpose but just incase!...Regular people who visit my workshop will know the rules around the dyno hehe Big Grin  )

Cut up some sheet steel and tacked corners to form the basic shape / check fit and clearance etc:

Torched some holes in the top with the plasma cutter for some fans to pull heat up out the hole:

And welded her around, not the best welding but got bord going slow and keeping it pretty so just blasted around to get the job done!:

And a lick of paint / fans fitted ended up looking like this, which has done the job nicely!:
