Rear brake compensator - 94' S16
#1
Hi all,

I have just got to the stage of bleed the brakes through on my S16 project got half way through and realised the rear brake compensator is leaking like a sieve. I have looked through 'Service Box' and the part 4861 68 is marked No Further Production!!

I have taken a look similar threads on the forum but I cannot see anybody mentioning one leaking, load of people saying about them being seized which mine is aswell.
I will take a closer look at it tomorrow to make sure it's the compensator leaking and not a pipe.

Are these compensators repairable? e.g. seals

never heard of one leaking, though not impossible I guess as it is a piston so must have seals.

a gti unit will do the job, I guess they'll have a slightly different pressure rating as they ran bigger front pistons so will need a different front to rear balance.
need a part number? http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/ and http://service.citroen.com/ will sort you out.

Just hooked the pressure bleeding kit up to the S16 again and yep the compensator is pouring it's heart out. Time to find a replacement!
