recomended tyres for road/track

i have a set of 15" clones im looking to cloth in a set of wet/rain tyres for track use

at the moment im looking at a set of 195/50 15 UNIROYAL RAINSPORT 3's
these are looking at £170 +fitting for 4

what's peoples views on these and any other recommendations on a budget of sorts

A539?! lol, they haven't made those for nearly ten years, and the Parada is crap in the pug sizes.

PS3 works very well, if you want more of a track dedicated tyre then the AD08 or AD08R is the tyre of choice now, better than the R888 which is getting on a bit now, design is ten years old now, well overdue to be replaced, I wouldn't entertain any of their road tyres.

Eagle F1's were very good, stiffer sidewalls than michelin, dunno if they have replaced them with anything decent though.

Toyo proxes t1r's are what i use - they feel reallly nice on the road and had a little pop around track; weren't amazing, but for the price i couldn't complain

How much are you paying for fitting?

In the last year or so I found most tyre places round here stopped doing cash discounts.

Means its cheaper to go to F1 Autocentres, book online, can even look for a discount code. 4 RS3's in that size come to £186.20 fully fitted. Then can get even more back through topcashback if you're with them.

The sidewalls on rainsports are very soft for the track.

Camskill if you can get them fitted cheap, black circles if not.

RSR's (Track day tyre version) are plain **** even for the money, No grip, braking performance is terrible, Only thing is traction in a straight line was OK, Were not talking a few feet but a huge margin here, Compare them with the Silverstone's I swapped him onto he found over a second, this is on a 39 second run to give you a idea and I was a shade under 2 seconds slower with them on

If your looking for tyres to use in the wet you wont get better than uniroyal rainsports for the money.

I'm looking at Federal 959 RSRs for my spare set of clones.

Think I might be getting a set of winter tyres to go on some steels if I can make up a set of them as winter tyres really are worth the money and if its freezing cold and/or pouring with rain.

I'm currently running a set of Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's, astonishingly good in the rain. Had them round Knockhill in some of the worst rain I've been on a track in. A block came over in the pit lane and asked if "I had special tyres". There was really only 3 or 4 other cars out there that were gripping better, and way better than the Michelin PE2's they replaced. Also damned good in the dry, got to within 0.5s a lap of my R888's, very progressive and good fun, again better than the PE2 by a long way. £40 a corner cheaper than the PS3, and I'd be surprised if a PS3 could do better.

are you running and odd size? as a 195 50 15 PS3 is about £60, so damn impressive if you can get an eagle F1 for £20 new

I'm on the same size and I've just put 4 x Federal 595's on but I'm yet to see the results. AD08's were about 30 quid more a corner and A048's were more again IIRC
